Because of the high alcohol content nature of a true cologne, this will never overpower. I splash it on liberally in the morning on chest, neck, arms - and keep a small bottle at work as a refresher during the day. It really does give a revitalizing sensation. And I love the historic nature of it and that many people no longer are aware of it - making it very unique yet very affordable.

I am very familiar with this product - have used it for over 40 yrs.
The seal was broken - product seemed watered down! The fragrance didn't last 1/2 hour

I have always loved 4711 ever since I saw an add for it in Stern Magazine in German language class as a kid. I couldn't wait to see what it smelled like and I was delighted years later when I actually got to try it.

4711 is such a clean and refreshing citrus splash that it is hard to describe. Imagine a hot summer day. You have been travelling and working and getting beat up. You take out a little 4711 and spriz yourself up and feel fresh and great again. 4711 also has atomizer sprays which are nice and convenient AND towelettes that refresh. It is pricey because the staying power is so minimal that it could hardly be considered a cologne or fragrance - mostly a post-shave splash or mid-day refresher.

AND, you don't stink to high heaven. This is a personal refresher. It is enjoyed by the wearer, but rarely noticed by others.

I was surprised to know that in Germany, 4711 is used mostly by (elderly) ladies. That doesn't stop me though, and I notice in the rest of the world it is marketed as a men's cologne.

This is a personal refresher. Very nice. Very good as an aftershave or an afternoon splash.
