Most important thing is that this product works! The sooner you use it on a cold sore just starting, the more it will prevent the cold sore from growing. When a cold sore is burning and inflamed, you know it is still growing. Abreva stops that stage in its tracks and lets you start to heal.
I used the tube for years. I had to carry it in an old 35mm film cannister to keep it from getting crushed. And I really worked at squishing the tube up into the top end to get the last bit of it out.
The pump was great to take skiing. It was easier to use than the tube when sitting on the chair lift with cold hands. I figured out how to pump very gently to just get a small amount out. I couldn't tell how much was left in the pump, however, so when the pump is empty, it just stops working. It costs about the same as I'd copay for a prescription drug, but I can get this over the counter. Suggestions to the manufacturer for impriovement to the pump would be to reduce the amount of product dispensed with each pump action. If we need more, we can pump twice. And find a way to show how much is left in the pump.

Abreva really does work. I use it ASAP when I notice a fever blister coming but it even works pretty well when there is no warning and they pop out of nowhere.
When I get a cold sore, I use it like 10x/Day. I think the box says five times daily, but the website says use it as often as possible.
Why not 5 Stars?
1. For me, it only works when I use it more often than "recommended".
2. Its extremely expensive
3. The pump SUX! It always gives like 3 times more than I want to use no matter how softly I pump it.
Little TIP: When it seems like its all used up, gently rip off the blue part at the top of the tube. You will be disgusted by how much product is actually still left.

Comments about Abreva Cold Sore/Fever Blister Treatment, Pump, .07 oz:

I am a true believer in Abreva, so when I saw the new pump product I spent the $$$ to buy it. The product itself still works (thank goodness), but the pump squirts out and does not let you control the amount you want to use. I was in the office bathroom attempting to apply and it squirted out into the sink next to me. Yikes! I don't think the girl washing her hands liked that very much. I apologized, cleaned the mess (wasted Abreva) and left. I'll stick to tube. Thanks!

Comments about Abreva Cold Sore/Fever Blister Treatment, Pump, .07 oz:

The product itself is great. But the pump puts out too much of it and one can't put it back! It is terribly expensive and I felt like I wasted 2/3 of it. I will stick with the tube, where I have a little more control how much comes out! So, yes on the product, but a big NO on the pump.

Comments about Abreva Cold Sore/Fever Blister Treatment, Pump, .07 oz:

This is the only thing that works for me. I liked the pump until it didn't pump anymore, so I came on here and started reading the reviews. Turns out I am not the only one. I did take one reviewer's advice and took a pair of needle nose pliers and took the blue part off. I felt like I had hit the jackpot when I saw how much was still in the bottle. It is such a good product that I will use my pliers every time until I get the last drop though. Better than being in pain and having a cold sore get out of control!

At the start of a cold sore tingle....I can get the cold sore in control by applying this immediately. If I am a little late using it....the cold sore will still come on but it only last half the time and the swelling is down 90%. The only problem is that more comes out than you want every time and I hate having to waste so much when it is pretty expensive.

Comments about Abreva Cold Sore/Fever Blister Treatment, Pump, .07 oz:

This product would get 4 or 5 stars from me, if it weren't for the PUMP delivery system. One pump (and even if you try the old "half pump" method) squirts out a TON of product. It's very wasteful. Because the stuff is so expensive (especially considering the small amount you get), I try to use only what I need, but that's impossible with the pump. I feel it's a scam to make customers use/waste MORE and therefore BUY MORE. My advice: avoid the pump and shop around for another product. As soon as the makers of Abreva get some competition, I'm gone.
