I haven't had frequent coldsores (5-6 times a year) like a lot of people, but I received my first one as a kid..then twice as a teen (14-16) and now this is my second time this year at 22.I have to say it is completely EMBARASSING to have a cold sore especially if you are in college like me and work in a place where people are constantly in your face.I was working when I felt that the lower corner of my lip was bruising..I thought maybe I had cut it while eating some chips. But after work when I looked in my car mirror...I saw two small pimply white dotted bumps beginning to cluster up on me. So I came here and read the reviews and Unlike most of the people here, I have no idea when I'm going to get one..my mouth does not tingle like everyone elses. Therefore when most of the reveiwers said abreva wasnt as good if your sore broke the skin i instantly became deterred. However, I had no other choices so I picked it up anyway. And Might I add its [$].I began rubbing abreva on every 1-2 hours (a very small amount) and icing the sore in between (I hear it helps too) and needless to say..my sore went away in maybe 3 days. I couldnt believe it..the last coldsore I had lasted almost 2 weeks and it looked horrible and deformed I even missed classes because of it and wore a bandaid. (It sat off to the side of my lip)I'd like to add that during the three days..my sore didnt get any worse then what it was when I found it..it did not form into a monster it just blended with my skin until it began to heal..I even went out completely unphased by it. NO ONE noticed it...I am so a believer of abreva now, and if you find yourself in the boat I was in..just make sure you apply often (to be safe) and ice it 3 times a day as well..(until the icecube melts). Abreva is great and even thought its small it helped me greatly however, I think icing it made it work even better.4 out of 5 because it did cost me [$] and the tube is really small.

Before i used Abreva, i recall how i use to get full blown cold sores that i just couldn't anything about. My research led me to buy Lysine tablets, and Abreva. Well i took a daily tablet of 1000mg Lysine and made sure to keep my face away from the sun or exposure of cold wind. The thing is I'm an athlete and i ve been running cold mornings and work out constantly. I guess that led to stress, because one morning i got a red blemish right under my nose. HUGH!! I applied abreva and doubled my Lysine intake. The cold sore never totally blew out to a blistering mess. Instead i had a really noticeable red blemish that still made me feel uncomfortable about. This continued for 9 days. I had high hopes that my steps would even prevent a cold sore from forming but it did not. Oh well, i will still continue to buy until i find something better.

Comments about Abreva Cold Sore/Fever Blister Treatment, .07 oz:

Abreva is the only product that works for me! I used to get cold sores constantly and nothing helped to relieve the pain, itching, burning, tingling, and grossness of the sores. They would last for 1-2 weeks and look abominable. I wanted to hide in a closet. Then I found Abreva and now, at the first sign of a tingle or itch, I put it on and the sore never even appears!! It's a miracle! If a sore pops up overnight, I put Abreva on in the morning and then as often as I can, and the sore is always gone by the end of the day. I can honestly say that now I never get a full outbreak any more like I used to all the time. Maybe the people whose sores got worse are allergic to the ingredients or something, because this product has been fabulous for me, and I would never use anything else. It's worth the pricey cost.

Comments about Abreva Cold Sore/Fever Blister Treatment, .07 oz:

I use Abreva at the first sign of a cold sore, and it definitely shortens the outbreak by several days if not a week. Sometimes, if I use it early enough, it seems to prevent the cold sore altogether. I like to keep it on hand just in case, because it is most useful the sooner you use it.

It's somewhat expensive, but totally worth the price.

Have tried prescriptions and home remedies, this product works. Use it at the first tingling hint of a cold sore on the lip. A small amount will do. And, as far as additional home remedies...ice the area first, it makes a difference.

I've tried several cheaper priced products for cold sores, and the cold sore just kept getting worse. Abreva is more expensive, but worth every penny! It starts working right away, and shortens the duration, so the cold sore never gets to the size or redness it normally would. I love this product!

When I feel the tingle of the cold sore coming on, I apply Abreva once or twice and its gone. I have used everything on the market including prescription items and I have found NOTHING thats works as quickly as abreva.

Comments about Abreva Cold Sore/Fever Blister Treatment, .07 oz:

I like Abreva although I,m not thrilled with it. Even so, it is still the best out
there for treating fever blisters (there,s really nothing on the market that
works 100%). I admit I did wait until my fever blister was really bothering
me to use it. It did help but I have to keep using it off and on. Perhaps if I
had used Abreva the minute I realized I had a fever blister it would be
different. It is, to my way of thinking anyway very expensive. Somsething
this expensive should work great at early onset and after awhile having
it. If I am desperate I will use Abreva over anything else.

Abreva's marketing department must have a lot of money behind it because I can find no other reason why this is the product most people think of when it comes to cold sores. I think we're just brain-washed because it's the only cold sore medication that's advertised on T.V. with regularity. I used it dutifully for a week on a small cold sore I had on my lip. I was also taking 5-7 grams of L-lysine daily which is recommended by some, and I made certain dietary changes. For over a week, there was no sign of going away. Nothing but a slight increase in size and it went from one small blister to three. I decided to try something else as I was beginning to think it would never go away. I got some Lysine Plus by Quantum and Campho Phenique. Within two days of alternating treatments of these two, I started to see an improvement, and it seems to finally be going away. I wouldn't recommend this product. Save your money and try one of the cheaper albeit less well-known products.
