I haven't had frequent coldsores (5-6 times a year) like a lot of people, but I received my first one as a kid..then twice as a teen (14-16) and now this is my second time this year at 22.I have to say it is completely EMBARASSING to have a cold sore especially if you are in college like me and work in a place where people are constantly in your face.I was working when I felt that the lower corner of my lip was bruising..I thought maybe I had cut it while eating some chips. But after work when I looked in my car mirror...I saw two small pimply white dotted bumps beginning to cluster up on me. So I came here and read the reviews and Unlike most of the people here, I have no idea when I'm going to get one..my mouth does not tingle like everyone elses. Therefore when most of the reveiwers said abreva wasnt as good if your sore broke the skin i instantly became deterred. However, I had no other choices so I picked it up anyway. And Might I add its [$].I began rubbing abreva on every 1-2 hours (a very small amount) and icing the sore in between (I hear it helps too) and needless to say..my sore went away in maybe 3 days. I couldnt believe it..the last coldsore I had lasted almost 2 weeks and it looked horrible and deformed I even missed classes because of it and wore a bandaid. (It sat off to the side of my lip)I'd like to add that during the three days..my sore didnt get any worse then what it was when I found it..it did not form into a monster it just blended with my skin until it began to heal..I even went out completely unphased by it. NO ONE noticed it...I am so a believer of abreva now, and if you find yourself in the boat I was in..just make sure you apply often (to be safe) and ice it 3 times a day as well..(until the icecube melts). Abreva is great and even thought its small it helped me greatly however, I think icing it made it work even better.4 out of 5 because it did cost me [$] and the tube is really small.

Before i used Abreva, i recall how i use to get full blown cold sores that i just couldn't anything about. My research led me to buy Lysine tablets, and Abreva. Well i took a daily tablet of 1000mg Lysine and made sure to keep my face away from the sun or exposure of cold wind. The thing is I'm an athlete and i ve been running cold mornings and work out constantly. I guess that led to stress, because one morning i got a red blemish right under my nose. HUGH!! I applied abreva and doubled my Lysine intake. The cold sore never totally blew out to a blistering mess. Instead i had a really noticeable red blemish that still made me feel uncomfortable about. This continued for 9 days. I had high hopes that my steps would even prevent a cold sore from forming but it did not. Oh well, i will still continue to buy until i find something better.

I've tried most other remedies and this is better than the prescription I was given! It not only reduced the redness and stopped it from spreading; it took the pain out of it. Love it and it's worth every penny!

Comments about Abreva Cold Sore/Fever Blister Treatment, .07 oz:

I started feeling a cold sore coming on yesterday so I ran out and bought Abreva along with Heprecin L ChapStick. I used both last night and this morning all I see is a tiny red spot instead of that terrible sore. It hardly even made it to the surface before I was able to stop it. It is great stuff. If you use it right when you feel the tingling, you can stop it in its tracks.

This is a miracle drug. I started using the product after the suggested "tingle" stage once I already had full blown blisters. By the end of the day my cold sore had shrunk and it was already beginning to heal. It is expensive for the little tube they provide you, but you use so little of the medication that it goes quite a long way. Definitely my recommendation for an over-the-counter cold sore treatment.

Having used prescriptions creams and pills for my lip cold sores for years, I've found Abreva better than the popular prescription - Zovirax. Generally, my cold sores lasted 7-10 days. With Abreva, I've completely stopped cold sores from erupting when applied at the first 'tingle'. Sometimes, the cold sore still erupts but the time is cut down to 3-5 days. I recommend this product to anyone who suffers from cold sores.

Comments about Abreva Cold Sore/Fever Blister Treatment, .07 oz:

I started to get a cold sore on Monday. I started treating the sore on Tuesday with Abreva. The blister was pretty large and swollen by that time, the entire upper half portion of my lip was a large bump. Also, very painful. The Abreva really didn't help too much with the pain except for the second or two after application, but MY SORE IS ALMOST GONE and it's only Wednesday! Only one day after and it's not hurting nearly as bad, the swelling is almost completely gone and it's starting to dry up. It will be gone by the weekend I'm sure. I can't believe it; it is a miracle. Maybe other people who aren't satisfied with this product have much worse/stubborn cases of cold sores. I rarely get them so I guess I'm really not the person to ask, but I am thrilled with the results.

I use Abreva in conjunction with Herpecin-L lip balm. I use the lip balm all the time to keep my lips from getting dry and to help prevent cold sores. I use the Abreva when I feel the dreaded tingle. I haven't had a cold sore since using these products. I highly recommend both.

Comments about Abreva Cold Sore/Fever Blister Treatment, .07 oz:

I've had cold sores since the sixth grade about once or twice a month. Nothing ever worked. But in the last decade, my breakouts have dwindled to once every other year! I think it's because of my almost obsessive use of SPF lip balm and vitamin C. The sun is a HUGE trigger, so slather on the lip balm several times a day that contains at least SPF 15. Also, you're more prone to breakouts if your immune system is less than 100%....that's where the vitamin C comes in. And then, this product...Abreva. I've used everything on the market and this is the only thing that halts that horrid tingling sensation. It's too bad it didn't work for some people. But it does wonders for me. Good luck to my fellow cold sore sufferers, and let's hope for a permanent cure within our lifetime. Until then, try the SPF lip balm, vitamin C, and Abreva. :)

What a WASTE of money! For something that cost as much as it did, I expected it to actually work!!!! I followed the directions closely and it just did not help at all! It actually made my cold sore worse! I looked horrible! And I deal with people face to face at my job. I tried my best to hide away and have another co-worker do my job! I would never recommend this super tiny tube of white goo to anyone! Save your money and buy the cheaper remedies, such as Carmex for cold sores.
Plain and simple: waste of time and money.

Comments about Abreva Cold Sore/Fever Blister Treatment, .07 oz:

I've tried other over the counter cold sore medications, and I have to say this one is the best! If you can use it right away, it prevents the sore from erupting. Use it every time you get a cold sore, and they come back less virulent, even if you don't catch them right away. It's expensive, but a little goes a long way. No need to slather it on thick. A little dab rubbed in thoroughly works just as well as a huge glob. One tube lasts me through several breakouts, and I had my last tube over a year. Works just as well as acyclovir for me.

I have tried so many things for my lips and this one really works well for me. I notice that some reviewers do not care for this product, but if you suffer with canker sores it is worth the try. Leave it on a little thick and it will eventually dry the sore. It worked for me!
