I am a Mom of one and no one gave me any advice about kids at home but I quickly had to learn. My son is and was a very kind baby to me and my husband; he never cried or kept me awake at night but when he got a bad diaper rash I freaked out and just tried A+D and it worked great. I soothed his pain and was fast. The rash was gone by morning. I love this product and I would recommend it to anyone who is out there looking for making their baby more comfortable.

We've tried several products: Aquaphor -- redness and irritation developed into a full-blown diaper rash while using it, 40% zinc oxide ointment -- cured diaper rash in 24 hours, but too difficult to apply and remove for daily use, A+D Zinc Oxide Cream -- seems to prevent diaper rash, but does not eliminate all redness and irritation. And now, we've tried A+D Original Ointment. It performed no better than the Aquaphor -- did not prevent redness, and the redness spreads while using it. Still searching for the perfect ointment to prevent diaper rash and eliminate all redness and irritation.

This is not just a baby product! Our home health care aides use it liberally on my husband, who is bedridden and incontinent. It creates an effective barrier against moisture in the diaper area, keeping his skin "soft as a baby's bottom." It is also excellent for minor abrasions and chapping. I even use it on my elbows and heels. BUT -- the little 4-oz. tubes that drugstore.com sells are next to useless for us. A&D Ointment also comes packaged in 1-pound tubs and our aides much prefer it in this form. They apply it in nice big globs, not thin little squiggles! Unfortunately, drugstore.com doesn't carry this size, so we have to shlep it from a local store. Too bad. I'd give it 5 stars otherwise.

This is my "go-to" remedy for abused hands, elbows, knees after a day of gardening, camping, or other activity that exposes my office dermis to the great outdoors. Leaves a protective layer so don't plan on handling fine silks after you've put it on your hands. I don't mind the smell, but it does have a medicinal odor

I usually go with organic type products, but after using several creams I can honestly say don't waste your money or time with anything else. This stuff is bulletproof for rashes and I will never buy anything else.

Started using this 25 years ago when my daughter was born... still make sure I have some around! Absolutely great on chapped noses during cold & allergy season. My husband and I also use it to soothe very dry or irritated skin almost anywhere. If I use it on my nose or face I put it on at bedtime. I wish they sold the smaller tubes here, a little goes a long way and we really don't need the big size.

The hospital used A&D and said that this is the best prevention for diaper rashes. After leaving the hospital, I religously used A&D ointment on my daughter & she NEVER had any diaper rashes. This is a MUST for any FIRST time parents.

This product works on everything, for a multitude of uses. My children have been out of diapers for years, but I still keep A&D Ointment in the house all of the time.

I use this stuff daily to prevent my child from a diaper rash. It helps protect the sensitive skin. It is nice and thick, but it will not cure the redness if it is already there. Then you need the medicated version. It is much thicker than the cream version which I don't feel does much at all, even the mediated cream version.

A+D is the best diaper ointment on the market. Out hospital used it and our pediatrician recommended it. We used it for both of our children, and it did a great job preventing and treating diaper rash. I prefer the tubes for neatness (it also comes in a big tub).
For skin irritation use: apply liberally as often as necessary.
For diaper rash use:
change wet and soiled diapers promptly
cleanse the diaper area, and allow to dry
apply ointment liberally as often as necessary, with each diaper change, especially at bedtime or anytime when exposure to wet diapers may be prolonged
