Chemical Name: FEXOFENADINE (fex-oh-FEN-a-deen) and PSEUDOEPHEDRINE (soo-doe-e-FED-rin)
Allegra-D 12 Hour 60-120mg is an antihistamine and decongestant combination that is used to relieve symptoms of seasonal allergies such as watery or itchy eyes, runny nose, itchy throat, sneezing, and stuffy nose (nasal congestion).
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with Allegra-D 12 Hour 60-120mg. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. DO NOT TAKE ALLEGRA-D 12 HOUR 60-120mg if you are taking droxidopa, furazolidone, monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) (eg, phenelzine), or if you have taken an MAOI within the past 14 days. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking bromocriptine, guanadrel, guanethidine, mecamylamine, reserpine, or other medicine for high blood pressure, digoxin, erythromycin, ketoconazole, methyldopa, urinary alkalinizers (eg, potassium citrate). DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, including diabetes, overactive thyroid, kidney problems, enlarged prostate, seizure disorders (eg, epilepsy), high blood pressure, heart problems, glaucoma or increased pressure in the eye, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. Tell your doctor if you take medicine for high blood pressure. USE OF ALLEGRA-D 12 HOUR 60-120mg IS NOT RECOMMENDED if you have severe heart/blood vessel disease or severe high blood pressure; narrow-angle glaucoma; you are unable to urinate (eg, urinary retention); or if you have had serious side effects from previous decongestant use (eg, trouble sleeping, involuntary trembling, irregular heart rhythm). Use of Allegra-D 12 Hour 60-120mg in children under age 12 is not recommended. Discuss with your doctor the risks and benefits of giving Allegra-D 12 Hour 60-120mg to your child. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking Allegra-D 12 Hour 60-120mg.
Follow the directions for using Allegra-D 12 Hour 60-120mg provided by your doctor. SWALLOW WHOLE. Do not break, crush, or chew before swallowing. Take Allegra-D 12 Hour 60-120mg on an empty stomach at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after eating. TAKE ALLEGRA-D 12 HOUR 60-120mg with water. DO NOT DRINK fruit juice at the same time that you take Allegra-D 12 Hour 60-120mg. Certain fruit juices (eg, grapefruit, apple, orange) may decrease Allegra-D 12 Hour 60-120mg's effectiveness. IF YOU TAKE ANTACIDS that contain aluminum or magnesium, do not take them at the same time as Allegra-D 12 Hour 60-120mg. Ask your doctor or pharmacist how to take them with Allegra-D 12 Hour 60-120mg. STORE ALLEGRA-D 12 HOUR 60-120mg at room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C) in a tightly-closed container, away from heat, moisture, and light. KEEP ALLEGRA-D 12 HOUR 60-120mg out of the reach of children and away from pets. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF ALLEGRA-D 12 HOUR 60-120mg, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do NOT take 2 doses at once.
DO NOT TAKE ALLEGRA-D 12 HOUR 60-120mg if you have had an allergic reaction to it or are allergic to any ingredient in this product. DO NOT EXCEED THE RECOMMENDED DOSE or take Allegra-D 12 Hour 60-120mg for longer than prescribed without checking with your doctor. ALLEGRA-D 12 HOUR 60-120mg MAY CAUSE DIZZINESS. DO NOT DRIVE, OPERATE MACHINERY, OR DO ANYTHING ELSE THAT COULD BE DANGEROUS until you know how you react to Allegra-D 12 Hour 60-120mg. Using Allegra-D 12 Hour 60-120mg alone, with other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or to perform other potentially dangerous tasks. ALLEGRA-D 12 HOUR 60-120mg MAY INTERFERE with allergy test results. Check with your doctor for instruction on how long you will need to stop taking Allegra-D 12 Hour 60-120mg prior to those tests. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. This includes any medicines which contain diet or appetite control medicines, antihistamines, or decongestants. Ask your doctor or pharmacist about the safe use of these medicines. YOU MAY OCCASIONALLY NOTICE the tablet shell in your stool. This is normal and not a cause for concern. CAUTION IS ADVISED WHEN ALLEGRA-D 12 HOUR 60-120mg IS USED IN THE ELDERLY because they may be more sensitive to the effects of the medicine. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Allegra-D 12 Hour 60-120mg during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF ALLEGRA-D 12 HOUR 60-120mg IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using Allegra-D 12 Hour 60-120mg, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby. IF YOU HAVE DIABETES, Allegra-D 12 Hour 60-120mg may affect your blood sugar. Check blood sugar levels closely and ask your doctor before adjusting the dose of your diabetes medicine.
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while taking Allegra-D 12 Hour 60-120mg include dizziness; dry mouth; headache; nausea; nervousness; or trouble sleeping. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience bloody diarrhea; chest pain; difficult urination; fast/irregular heartbeat; fever; hallucinations; mental or mood changes; seizures; shaking or tremor; stomach pain. AN ALLERGIC REACTION TO ALLEGRA-D 12 HOUR 60-120mg is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue. IF OVERDOSE IS SUSPECTED, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include chest pain, unusual drowsiness, fast or irregular heartbeat, loss of consciousness, unusual nervousness or excitement, severe or persistent dizziness or headache, difficulty breathing, and seizures.
DO NOT SHARE ALLEGRA-D 12 HOUR 60-120mg with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE ALLEGRA-D 12 HOUR 60-120mg for other health conditions. KEEP ALLEGRA-D 12 HOUR 60-120mg out of the reach of children and pets. IF USING ALLEGRA-D 12 HOUR 60-120mg FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, obtain refills before your supply runs out.
