I used to use the premoistened pads all the time - but they seemed to start making them with less and less remover. So I switched about a year ago to the straight liquid. I love the soothing cool feal, I use it after I wash my face even if I didn't have make up on that day. I wear water proof in the summer and it works well removing that - you will need a little more elbow grease than non-waterproof products that come off 1-2-3, but it works well enough. I feel like it keeps the skin around my eyes calm and moisturised without oil. I cannot stand sticky, oil residue in my eye or on my skin. This product has none of that - no sting in the eye either. It's the best all around eye remover product I've ever used. Comments about Almay Eye Makeup Remover Liquid, Oil Free, 4 fl oz: In 20 years of daily use, this never, ever stung my eyes. Now it stings like crazy (and for a prolonged period). Comparing my new bottle with the old one, I see that the order of all the ingredients has recently changed -- and there's a new one, Diazolidinyl Urea. It's a preservative that works by releasing formaldehyde. From its Material Safety Data Sheet: "Causes severe eye irritation. Will cause painful burning or stinging of eyes and lids, watering of eyes, and inflammation of conjunctiva." It's also a known carcinogen, according to the International Agency for Research on Cancer. I see from the reviews that other users have noticed irritation when there previously was none. I simply love it because it is as effective as premium department store brands at a fraction of the cost. There is no way the "oil free" version of this product will work on waterproof makeup. Use the version with oil for waterproof makeup. I do not wear a lot of makeup, despite my age. I don't need it and it matters not to me. Whereas Neutrogena Oil Free remover takes off all makeup with only one cottonball, I could use many with this and still have makeup on my eyes in the morning. Plus, it burns my eyes!
