I've tried probably 10-15 different hair creams. I tend to go for the semi-short semi-messy looking style, a little spikey and kinda erradic. So far this is the only product that doesn't make my hair shiney, doesn't leave residue, and doesn't dry crunchy. It leaves your hair with a somewhat natural feel, although it is a tad bit sticky. If you're a fan of the crunchy look, you won't like this. If you want a more natural look, you'll love it.
I've seen a few reviews saying it doesn't spready easy or clumps... YOU'RE PUTTING IT IN WRONG! You can't put this in like normal gel. Follow these directions for perfect application:
1. Wash hair. 2. Let hair dry, and apply IMMEDIATELY after hair dries - don't let your natural oils rebuild. This is a very small window of about 5 minutes. 3. For short hair scoop a ball with the diameter of a nickel, more for more hair. 4. Rub FAST between your hands (make sure they're clean and water/lotion free), generating heat to the product and making it pliable. 5. Lightly run hands over hair, texturizing by mostly applying to the tips of your hair and letting natural groupings form. no need to apply to the roots - applying to the outside half of your hair will hold perfectly. 6. Periodically rub hands together to reapply product.
If you follow these steps you'll see no white clumps, unevenness and you'll have a better hold overall.

I bought this after reading the reviews and have to say I was very disappointed. Even using just a little bit it left my hair very greasy feeling and looking and didn't add any of the texture or body promised. I have very fine, short hair. I used this product once and tossed it in a drawer. Mighty expensive "trial" I might add!! Why don't these companies, seriously, produce "sample packs" - I can't tell you how many hair products I try and toss because they don't perform as advertised!
Comments about American Crew Fiber for Hold & Shine, 3 oz:
I've looked around and haven't been able to find anything better. It keeps my hair under control, isn't crunchy or shiny. I wish it didn't rub off so easily so that I could wear a hat or put sunglasses on my head without them getting gunked up, but perhaps that's an impossible request. Overall, very happy.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Work a small amount evenly through dry or towel dried hair and style as desired.
American Crew Fiber for Hold & Shine
– Just because men tend to have shorter hair doesn't mean that they can skimp on styling products. In fact, the quality and type of product you use can have a major impact on your overall look. American Crew Fiber for Hold & Shine is one of the bestselling products from a top hair care brand. This fibrous, resin-like product is designed to give you the firm hold you're looking for with a minimal amount of shine.
Benefits of American Crew Fiber
American Crew Fiber for Hold & Shine, the brand is able to satisfy a demand for a matte product that provides superior hold. This styling compound thickens and helps texturize hair while minimizing shine, so it will control your hair without being obvious that you are using any sort of product. Simply work a small amount of Fiber in between your hands and then apply it to hair that's either damp or dry. After evenly distributing the product across your locks, you can style them as desired. American Crew Fiber works best for shorter hair (around 1-3 inches in length). Its ingredients include quality humectants and emollients, so it will condition your hair and provide moisture while maintaining a firm hold.
About American Crew
Founded in Chicago in 1994 and based out of Denver, Colorado, American Crew is one of the top manufacturers of men's grooming products in the nation. David Raccuglia, the company's founder, was working as a hairstylist and grew frustrated with the lack of styling options for men once local barbershops had all but disappeared. After starting with men's shampoos, the brand diversified into products for hair care, styling, shaving, and more. Over the last two decades, American Crew has actually begun influencing style trends around the world, and the company constantly releases new products to showcase its latest innovations.
