Just got this recently, I chose it over American Crew Fiber because I'm planning to grow my hair out a bit and this would probably work better on longer hair. Currently I have short to medium-length hair that gets wavy when it's longer. I've found that this is great for creating a natural-looking texture and a bit of volume.

A good thing about this is that you can control the amount of shine you want by using more or less of the product, and you can actually get the matte look of the American Fiber. By using less product, however, you sacrifice quite a bit of hold. I haven't tried having this on my hair the entire day without touching it, but I don't see it holding your hair in place for the entire day, unless u use a lot of it which will just make your hair look greasy. What I would recommend is to use other products like hairspray together with this to give it more hold.

I've heard many people complain about the smell of the product, but I'm not very concerned about that. It may smell a little feminine to some but its not unpleasant, and it's quite subtle so people are unlikely to notice it. I'd say it's actually a plus because I don't want my hair to smell different from my cologne.

So if you're looking for versatility this is probably the product I'd go for. But if you have short hair and you're looking for something that's going to keep your hair in place perhaps the Fiber would be a better choice especially if you don't want to spend extra $$ on hairspray. (It says 'high hold', as opposed to the Forming Cream's medium hold, but I haven't tried it so I can't say for sure). But then again, there are much cheaper alternatives to Fiber such as some of the Gatsby products, so it all depends on what you're going for.

Price wise it's pretty steep for a hair product but I decided to splurge a little bit since I just got a new job.

Husband has used this for a couple of years now. Great product. Leaves hair somewhat flexible and not super stiff or sticky, yet holds it in place. Perfect for that guy that doesn't want to look like he uses a bunch of product. Sells good and doesn't flake like a lot of gels, and isn't greasy or leave a residue like some of the pastes.

I have thick wavy hair and I really need to use a product to control fizz and create some definition. I've tried lots of different products, but I always come back to American Crew Forming Cream.

The key is using just enough and not too much. Too little might get applied unevenly. Too much is very heavy and really weighs my hair down. I've found the results are better when I use less of the product than I would think I need.

I use this product when I get out of the shower. While my hair is still damp I use a little of this product throughout my hair specifically at the ends. I let my hair air dry while I finish getting ready, and then I use a little of the firm hold styling gel to style my hair. The Forming cream keeps my hair under control and also prevents the gel from making my hair too hard, and crunchy.
