But since Crew is so thick, I have to take a dollop and spread it over my hands FIRST and then add water and mix before spreading it evenly over his hair and then working it in. If you get your hands wet first it is impossible to mix it with the water. But it leaves his hair moist and shiney-looking...and it has a very nice, light scent.

This is the first American Crew product I cannot recommend. It smells alright, but even from first getting it on your fingers to apply it you realize it's not going to hold up. It melts away into gloppy shards of product and once smoothed through my hair, seems like it's going to work. It does, for about a morning; once you're out and about its effectiveness wanes very quickly. It does remain fairly light in the hair, which is probably why its hold doesn't rank in the top three, but it feels less gunky later in the day, so maybe it's a trade-off.

This is one of the best product that holds well for thicker hair and allows minimal styling. Been a fan for many years and it works like a charm. Definitely a bit more expensive compared to other products, but I have tried Axe pomade and it's terrible.

Item works as it should. Medium hold. More shine the more you use. I don't like a lot of shine so I use less, it still holds pretty well. The smell is very "chemically". Doesn't bother me much by the time I get it in my hair. Just when I'm getting it on my hands. Otherwise, a great product.

I'm a woman and I've used this product for years even though it is pricey for me. It adds incredible shine and curl definition to my short, graying, color treated, natural African American hair. It's the only styling product I need and it doesn't fade hair color. But, as noted on another comment here, the formula varies from jar to jar. Sometimes it's clear, amber, and gel-like (good) and other times it's opaque and cloudy (still works okay but I wonder if it's old stock).

I was turned on to this by Bishop's barbershop in Portland, OR. It gives my hair a great shine without rubber cement stiffness. The very mild fragrance is nice and not girly.

I've been using this product for a long time. I just rub a little into my hands and then run my hands on the side of my head to slick back the hair at my temples. It stays all day and doesn't look overly greasy. It is a little messy and you have to wash your hands after applying. It was my stylist that first introduced me to this product.
