This product was recommended to me by my dermatologist years ago for the little bumps I get on the outer part of my upper arms and sometimes on the outer part of my thighs. I tried it shortly after she recommended it and in a few weeks the bumps were gone and sometime after that, I don't recall how long, the red scar like marks they leave behind were also gone. After all these years I'm still using it as a preventative and my arms are smooth and clear. I only apply it to the areas it's needed so it lasts quite awhile. It does not have a great smell so after it dries thoroughly I apply my regular lotion as usual. I've recommended this to countless people, including my cosmetologist and she now recommends it too!!

I purchased Amlactin to treat those little red bumps. I'd used other unrelated products in the past successfully for this purpose (so I know it's possible to get rid of them). I used about 80% of the bottle over about 2+ months before I gave up on it. From my perspective, it was a bad 2 months.

Amlactin has a subtle but distinctly unpleasant odor. I can't quite describe it, but its in the chemical, plastic, something slightly fermented category.

The worst characteristic is the product's stickiness. It does not absorb at all, but just sets on top of the skin. This, of course, gives the skin a nice (temporary) luminous appearance--but sticky. The worst thing is to wear it at bedtime. My skin stuck to the sheets! Seriously uncomfortable, especially in the summer. Finally I decided to give up on Amlactin after some uncomfortable nights when I had to get up and wash the stuff off in the middle of the night so that I could sleep.

I will not buy this product or its line again. It's really too bad-I had been so hopeful after reading the reviews.

This lotion keeps my skin smooth all day long. At the end of the day (bedtime) my legs and arms are still smooth and soft. I like the fact that there is no smell.

Comments about AmLactin Moisturizing Lotion, 7.9 oz:

I read that this product helps keratosis pilaris which is why I tried it. I am so glad that I did. I have tried several products-even ones recommended by dermatologists such as urea cream that did not do much except smell terrible. I have been using the product just about every night before bedtime on my arms for the last 3 weeks. My arms were rough with red bumps and now they look dramatically better-the kp has almost vanished and my skin has never been smoother. I can't believe I found something that works! Also it isn't smelly and absorbs pretty quickly. The most effective product for kp I've tried.

After a lifetime of battling dry cracked and bleeding hands, and trying every lotion and cream ever made (it seems), this stuff is the best I've used, by far. A dermatologist recommended it and so have I, every time someone brings up the problem of dry skin. I prefer to put it on before bed, but it can go on anytime; it's not greasy.

I use this for the Keratosis Pilaris (chicken skin) on my upper arms. I have only been using this for FOUR DAYS and I already see a difference! My skin is smoother and less blothchy. The only negative is that it is thick and sort of sticky, and it takes a long time to fully absorb. But, if you want clearer skin, it's totally worth it!

I used to get lactic acid facials. When I couldn't afford to do them as often I started looking for a lactic acid based lotion I could use daily. This was it. The days I use this alone, without putting makeup on, I swear I am always startled to see my face in a mirror and realize it is literally glowing. It's important to note that there isn't anything irridescent in this that would cause that. It just makes your skin look exceptionally clean, dewy and healthy. That alone makes me reach for this lotion every day. I usually cleanse my face at night and put this on as a bedtime "treatment"/moisturizer. Some days that I don't wear makeup I will go out with nothing but this on my face. My face appears illuminated, hydrated and the skin almost plumped up. I love it and will continue to use this and recommend it to others. As a side note, it cleared up some areas on my hands that were dry, cracked and irritated but are now soft and smooth.
