This product was recommended to me by my dermatologist years ago for the little bumps I get on the outer part of my upper arms and sometimes on the outer part of my thighs. I tried it shortly after she recommended it and in a few weeks the bumps were gone and sometime after that, I don't recall how long, the red scar like marks they leave behind were also gone. After all these years I'm still using it as a preventative and my arms are smooth and clear. I only apply it to the areas it's needed so it lasts quite awhile. It does not have a great smell so after it dries thoroughly I apply my regular lotion as usual. I've recommended this to countless people, including my cosmetologist and she now recommends it too!!

I purchased Amlactin to treat those little red bumps. I'd used other unrelated products in the past successfully for this purpose (so I know it's possible to get rid of them). I used about 80% of the bottle over about 2+ months before I gave up on it. From my perspective, it was a bad 2 months.

Amlactin has a subtle but distinctly unpleasant odor. I can't quite describe it, but its in the chemical, plastic, something slightly fermented category.

The worst characteristic is the product's stickiness. It does not absorb at all, but just sets on top of the skin. This, of course, gives the skin a nice (temporary) luminous appearance--but sticky. The worst thing is to wear it at bedtime. My skin stuck to the sheets! Seriously uncomfortable, especially in the summer. Finally I decided to give up on Amlactin after some uncomfortable nights when I had to get up and wash the stuff off in the middle of the night so that I could sleep.

I will not buy this product or its line again. It's really too bad-I had been so hopeful after reading the reviews.

Comments about AmLactin Moisturizing Lotion, 7.9 oz:

The only thing to heal dry cracked heels and feet! This is a miracle wonder. Use it consistently for a couple of weeks, and your feet will start to feel like new. Great stuff! My only problem is consistency! Skip a few weeks and their back to their old cracked selves.

I have used this on my face as a day cream for the past two years. It works well under makeup. I am 67 years old and am always complemented on how young my skin looks. I love AmLactin!

Comments about AmLactin Moisturizing Lotion, 7.9 oz:

I have very dry skin, especially on my legs. I have used Amlactin lotion. It didn't work for me; after few hours my skin was dry again. It also smells awful, it is sticky, and it does not absorb quickly. I wouldn't recommend it!

Comments about AmLactin Moisturizing Lotion, 7.9 oz:

AmLactin is NOT for casual every-day moisturizing needs. This is a generic OTC substitute for LacHydrin (prescribed by dermatologists). It's excellent if your skin is *severely* dry, conditions like eczema, ichthyosis, etc. Used in conjunction with Carmol 40, I can generally control eczema.

Comments about AmLactin Moisturizing Lotion, 7.9 oz:

This is the best lotion in the world for dry feet and elbows. It doesn't smell nice and it's not for anywhere else. If you want something that is a good moisturizer and smells nice, try anything from the Ahava line. That works great too.

Comments about AmLactin Moisturizing Lotion, 7.9 oz:

The worst part of this lotion is the smell. It is the non-prescription strength equivalent to LacHydrin, which was recommend to me by a doctor for dry skin. Nothing (Aveeno, Eurecin, Nivea, Jergens, etc) sold in a store has had the effects on my skin that this lotion has. My legs used to be cracked from dryness, now they are hydrated and supple. My arms used to have large dry patches, no more. If you are looking to alleviate dry skin, Amlactin and Cetaphil will leave your skin soft, hydrated and feeling 100% better, with no prescriptions necessary.

I use this (alternating) with Carmol 20 on my feet--no more calluses, cracks, etc. Apply it and then wear cotton socks. Also, apply it a few hours or the night before you shave your legs. No more itchy, bumpy legs. A great exfoliator.

Comments about AmLactin Moisturizing Lotion, 7.9 oz:

This is the most wonderful moisturizer I have ever used. My dermatologist recommended it to me for my very dry skin. It is the only thing that has softened my feet and elbows. If your skin becomes sticky, it is because you used too much. I use it sparingly, and have never experienced a sticky feeling. Unlike those 'other' lotions in the store, you don't have to bathe in it to get the benefit of moisture.

I have used this product for KP on my arms and legs. But, it is very sticky and the results weren't as desirable. I like the Neutrogena Smooth Skin Lotion much better.

Comments about AmLactin Moisturizing Lotion, 7.9 oz:

This is the best lotion I've ever used. I have had painfully dry skin since childhood. I had an oncologist recommend this to me at the age of 12. I welcome what others call the sticky, non-absorbing affect because my skin is so dry that using this lotion is the only time my skin feels truly moist. It totally removes the bumps from the back of my arms.
