This product was recommended to me by my dermatologist years ago for the little bumps I get on the outer part of my upper arms and sometimes on the outer part of my thighs. I tried it shortly after she recommended it and in a few weeks the bumps were gone and sometime after that, I don't recall how long, the red scar like marks they leave behind were also gone. After all these years I'm still using it as a preventative and my arms are smooth and clear. I only apply it to the areas it's needed so it lasts quite awhile. It does not have a great smell so after it dries thoroughly I apply my regular lotion as usual. I've recommended this to countless people, including my cosmetologist and she now recommends it too!!

I purchased Amlactin to treat those little red bumps. I'd used other unrelated products in the past successfully for this purpose (so I know it's possible to get rid of them). I used about 80% of the bottle over about 2+ months before I gave up on it. From my perspective, it was a bad 2 months.

Amlactin has a subtle but distinctly unpleasant odor. I can't quite describe it, but its in the chemical, plastic, something slightly fermented category.

The worst characteristic is the product's stickiness. It does not absorb at all, but just sets on top of the skin. This, of course, gives the skin a nice (temporary) luminous appearance--but sticky. The worst thing is to wear it at bedtime. My skin stuck to the sheets! Seriously uncomfortable, especially in the summer. Finally I decided to give up on Amlactin after some uncomfortable nights when I had to get up and wash the stuff off in the middle of the night so that I could sleep.

I will not buy this product or its line again. It's really too bad-I had been so hopeful after reading the reviews.

Comments about AmLactin Moisturizing Lotion, 7.9 oz:

I have dry skin and those common bumps on the back of my arms. This is the only product that has alleviated these two problems. I agree that the smell and greasy nature of the product are unfortunate, but if you want a product that really works, this is it. One thing I noticed is that if you miss one or two days of using this product, the bumps return.

Comments about AmLactin Moisturizing Lotion, 7.9 oz:

I have moderate eczema that flares up during cold weather. AmLactin (plus a humidifier running 24/7) have gone a long way towards relieving my dry skin. The lotion does take a while to absorb, but not as long as other waxy dry skin potions like Eucerin. The ammonia smell goes away after a bit, too--or can be covered by a reasonable dose of perfume or other scented product. AmLactin is worth the cost and the minor nuisance of scent and stickiness because it has staying power--you can wash your hands multiple times and they will still be soft.

Comments about AmLactin Moisturizing Lotion, 7.9 oz:

This product is great for getting rid of those small bumps on the back of your arms. It is the only thing (including prescription stuff) that has worked for me. It does take awhile to absorb. However, I think it is worth it in order to have soft smooth skin.

Comments about AmLactin Moisturizing Lotion, 7.9 oz:

It's true what the other reviews have said about the scent. This is not aromatherapy (which I'd prefer), but it really is very effective. I used this on the recommendation of my podiatrist. I didn't expect that a thin lotion would have made such a difference on my feet. I put it on at night with socks and actually saw a difference overnight. I use regularly on my feet and it makes for pretty "sandal feet." It's good for elbows too. Comments about AmLactin Moisturizing Lotion, 7.9 oz:

This is THE best thing that I have found for the treatment of keratosis pilaris, the common skin condition that typically causes colorless bumps on the backs of the upper arms, etc. I have found that using the combo of 1/2 Amlactin 12% cream along with 1/2 of Cetaphil dry/sensitive skin cream works best. I went to the dermatologist and he couldn't believe how soft my arms were! He said he recommends Amlactin cream for keratosis pilaris sufferers. This is a great product. Comments about AmLactin Moisturizing Lotion, 7.9 oz:

This should NOT be confused with a fancy, pretty smelling, overpriced, desinger lotion sold at the department store cosmetic counter. If you have a dry and/or itchy skin problem, then your dermatologist might just recommend this product. This is the OTC version of one of the most commonly prescribed lotions used for long list of skin conditions causing dry and or itchy skin. The bottle is ugly, it doesn't smell pretty, and it might take longer to absorb than other brands. BUT, who cares since this product is a medical breakthrough in skin care. I have extremely dry skin and also have eczema. While this product did, in fact, help my skin by giving it more moisture, it also helped my eczema. I don't know if it will have the same effect on anyone else -- I'm certainly no doctor.

Comments about AmLactin Moisturizing Lotion, 7.9 oz:

I use a lotion daily on my legs and arms for dry skin. This product moistened my skin. However, if I applied it after a hot bath there was a strong ammonia smell that stayed on my skin. Because of this, I wouldn't recommend using it after bathing.

Comments about AmLactin Moisturizing Lotion, 7.9 oz:

This product improved my dry skin. I noticed a reduction of dryness almost immediately. Outside of that quality, frankly, I didn't care much for it. The lotion left my skin feeling very waxy. Its fragrance reminded me of the odor of Elmer's glue. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless getting rid of dry skin was his or her sole concern.

Very effective for dry, flaky skin. Absorbs well and keeps working most of the day. Better than most brands we've tried. Would recommend to family and friends.
