I first became acquainted with this as a suggested use by my dermatologist to take care of a hives break out on my legs. I thought I would be scared for life, and after using this product my skin is mark free and as supple as a baby's. Now it's just a regular part of my life.

It's a bit on the thick side for use in the hot months, but it is a must for the winter! If you have a dry itchy spot, a paper cut, chapped or split lips - this is your life saver. It heals stuff fast, and it's uncompromised because is has no dyes or parfumes making it great for you if you have sensitive skin, and great for babies.

Yes, it'a a tad pricey - but it's worth every penny and lasts an age! Bargain hunt elsewhere, spend the money on this.

My dermatologist said that this was the best moisturizer for wrinkles. I can use it at night time, but during the day it is just too greasy. I can wear it during the day if I put foundation over it, but not if I'm just at home and not using foundation. I haven't used it on very dry places yet, b/c of the greasiness. I may still try when I really need it.

Comments about Aquaphor Original Ointment, 14 oz:

I don't like heavy greasy products but this works.
Just this pass week they were talking about it on
Dr.OZ and after seeing that show I ordered it. I like it but not for all over body. I use it on my feet and hands mostly. Have also used on elbows and
knees.

Comments about Aquaphor Original Ointment, 14 oz:

Ok I don't know if there is a real difference between Petrolatum (the active ingredient in Aquaphor) and Petroleum (as in good old Petroleum Jelly) but if it walks and quacks like a duck and cost is 200% higher "shoot the duck".

It is slightly softer (less jell like) then Petroleum Jelly, and I am guessing that is from the other ingredients they put into it. Aquaphor is 41% Petrolatum whereas "Vaseline" Petroleum Jelly is 100% Petroleum (nothing added).

I have used it for a few days and it doesn't seem to work any different than Petroleum Jellies I have used before. I will NOT be paying this much, ever again for something that my grandmother recommended.

Comments about Aquaphor Original Ointment, 14 oz:

PLEASE don't believe people who complain that Aquaphor is too 'greasy,' etc. that is just ridiculous. First of all, it isn't intended as a facial cream! It's to HEAL broken, irritated skin, not reduce wrinkles. I have lymphedema, a chronic breakdown of skin on the legs from poor circulation. This requires nursing care, but at the edges, where the breakdown is minor, more like little scabs, Aquaphor is what vascular doctors recommend. It clears them up like magic. I also use it on my dog's dry nose! It is THE most effective moisturizing cream for stubborn sore skin, but is NOT a wrinklke cream to wear in the daytime! Get a gripI!

Comments about Aquaphor Original Ointment, 14 oz:

Love to use this after a shower at bedtime - it leaves my skin feeling well hydrated and soft. I also use it on my hands and lips during the day to keep them softened and from getting cracked, especially during the dry winter months. It is greasy so I have to be careful about applying it and then putting on clothes but I do love the way it keeps my skin hydrated.

This was recommended to me by a podiatrist for my feet--which are very dry...so thought I'd try it and have been very pleased with the results..I use it mainly before I go out..put it on a little before.. because altho not VERY greasy..its summer and I'm in sandals most of the time..gives it a chance to 'settle' in before I slip on my sandals...works great on my legs and dry hands too and definetly last almost all day--for me anyway...

This heavy, Vaseline-like product softens severely dry patches well.

I liked it better than petroleum jelly and will use it on my hands and feet at bedtime in the winter. Does soften the skin, but is too greasy to use all the time.
