I tried using a washcloth instead, but it never dried between showers and grew mildewy. I looked in a lot of stores to find a shower cloth or mitt that was machine washable and thin enough to dry out between showers, but couldn't find anything. I finally saw this on drugstore.com and bought it because it was machine washable. I am VERY happy with it! It dries completely in between showers and I can throw it in the wash when it's dirty. One weird thing: it has one hole on each side -- I assume these are to put your fingers through, which kind of keeps the mitt from slipping off your hand, but it would be better if the mitt were just hand-shaped, like most mitts -- I think it would stay on your hand better. That is the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. Still worth buying -- I would do it again if I had to! I'm 50 plus, and will continue to use this product, one mitt for each hand, focus on upper arms, thighs. These mitts are very durable, always have an extra pair on the shelf.
