When I treated my dog's water with this, it improved her breath immediately. The trick was getting her to drink the treated water. Here's how I did it:

My dog, Lady, wouldn't drink her water when I first added this to it. So I made sure that the only water she could access was water that had this in it. It worked (sorta), but it took her longer than 8 hours to finish just one bowl. Unfortunately, after 8 hours, the ingredient is no longer active.

So I had to try something else. I added a few chunks of leftover pork roast (which Lady loves) to the treated water. She drank just enough to get the chunk out of the bowl. Then I shredded some more roast and added it to the water. That did the trick; she finished off the bowl of treated water within a matter of minutes. That was yesterday. This morning, I added just a little bit of congealed meat juices to the treated water. She went after the treat, and went on to finish the water in less than a minute. Now that she gets the idea that this water IS a treat, it's not hard at all to get her to drink it.

Haven't tried this product long enough to know whether it works. I'm doubtful but it's worth a try.

I have a 14 yr old shihtzu who has bad breath and a 2 yr old yorkie who doesn't. None of us like the brush thing..the yorkie runs and I can't catch him! Anyway, we tried the gel for awhile and I came here to see if Drugstore.com had a similar product. When I saw this, how easy it was to use, I thought..why not? So glad I did. My shihtzu's breath is much better and I'm not chasing the yorkie around the house anymore. Fantastic! Back for the second box. I just wish there was a bigger size.

I could tell that my dog's teeth were cleaner after the initial twice daily treatment. I ran out of supply and two months later, her teeth have the yellow plaque-like sheen. So I will restart, retreat and then use prophylactically long-term. This way I can avoid having my 9-year old dog be put under anesthesia for a teeth cleaning.

Left it for them to see if they would drink it, wouldn't touch it. Different times, different pets. Neither cat nor dog.
