Quinoa (keen-wa) was a staple of the ancient Incas and means "the mother grain". It's high in iron and has a distinctive flavor and fluffy texture. It is considered a complete vegetarian protein on par with dairy. Quinoa makes a tasty choice for casseroles, pilafs and even salads when cooked.
This is an aright quinoa, not the best taste, but it's good enough for my recipe. However, I don't think I'll buy this again because the package is so flimsy. I bought two packs last time and one of them came damaged and quinoa were all over the place, including the box and my carpet, what a mess!

I started cooking quinoa about 3 years ago. It has a nutty taste and can be used in meals in place of potatoes, rice or other starches. Cook it with broth or cooked vegetables or beans for added flavors. Very tasty and good for you. I am not a gourmet chef, but this is easy to prepare and can add something different to a meal.
