Are there any alternative therapies for eczema?

Eczema—also known as dermatitis—is a red, itchy rash on the upper layers of the skin. An oral herbal remedy evening primrose oil (Nature Made Evening Primrose Oil with Vitamin E, Nature’s Bounty Evening Primrose Oil), is effective in reducing the redness and itchiness of the rash. It has allowed people with eczema to use less steroid cream, which can have side effects. Although this information looks promising, more research needs to confirm the long-term safety and effectiveness of this herb.Witch hazel, an alcoholic solution containing extract from the bark and leaves of the witch hazel plant, can help dry a weeping rash, allowing it to heal sooner.Sources: Mayo Clinic Family Health Book.
