Astelin 137mcg/spray Solution is an antihistamine nasal spray used to treat allergy symptoms such as sneezing and itchy, runny nose. It is also used to treat symptoms of nasal passage inflammation such as runny nose, stuffy nose, and postnasal drip. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with Astelin 137mcg/spray Solution. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions including allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking Astelin 137mcg/spray Solution.
Follow the directions for using Astelin 137mcg/spray Solution provided by your doctor. An additional patient information leaflet is available with Astelin 137mcg/spray Solution. Ask your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist any questions that you may have about this information. ASTELIN 137mcg/SPRAY SOLUTION IS FOR THE NOSE ONLY. Do not get it in your eyes or mouth. If you get Astelin 137mcg/spray Solution in your eyes, rinse with cool tap water at once. PRIME THE SPRAY PUMP before the first use of a new bottle. Remove the blue dust cover over the tip of the bottle and the blue safety clip. To prime the pump, point the spray pump away from you and others. Spray rapidly and firmly several times until a fine mist appears (4 to 6 sprays or less). TO USE ASTELIN 137mcg/SPRAY SOLUTION, gently blow your nose to clear your nostrils. Keep your head tilted downward. Place the spray tip 1/4 to 1/2 inch into the nostril. Hold bottle upright, allowing spray tip to aim toward the back of the nose. Close the other nostril with one finger. Spray rapidly and firmly once and sniff gently at the same time. Repeat in the other nostril as directed. Breathe in gently. Do not tilt your head back after using Astelin 137mcg/spray Solution. This will help you to avoid the bitter taste that may be caused by Astelin 137mcg/spray Solution. After using Astelin 137mcg/spray Solution, wipe the spray tip with a clean tissue or cloth. Keep the dust cover and safety clip on the bottle when it is not in use. If 3 or more days have passed since the last use of this bottle, reprime the pump with 2 sprays or until a fine mist appears. If the nozzle becomes clogged, do NOT clean it by using a pointed object. Remove the spray pump from the bottle. Soak it in warm water, squirting it several times while under water. Dry the spray pump completely. Attach the spray pump to the bottle and reprime. STORE ASTELIN 137mcg/SPRAY SOLUTION upright at room temperature, between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C). Protect from freezing. Store with pump tightly closed. Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not use Astelin 137mcg/spray Solution after the expiration date on the bottle. KEEP ASTELIN 137mcg/SPRAY SOLUTION out of the reach of children and away from pets. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF ASTELIN 137mcg/SPRAY SOLUTION, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at once.
DO NOT TAKE ASTELIN 137mcg/SPRAY SOLUTION if you have had an allergic reaction to it or if you are allergic to any ingredient in this product. DO NOT EXCEED THE RECOMMENDED DOSE without checking with your doctor. Astelin 137mcg/spray Solution may cause drowsiness. DO NOT DRIVE, OPERATE MACHINERY, OR DO ANYTHING ELSE THAT COULD BE DANGEROUS until you know how you react to Astelin 137mcg/spray Solution. Using Astelin 137mcg/spray Solution alone, with other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or to perform other potentially dangerous tasks. DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL OR USE MEDICINES THAT MAY CAUSE DROWSINESS (eg, sleep aids, muscle relaxers) while you are using Astelin 137mcg/spray Solution; it will add to their effects. Ask your pharmacist if you have questions about which medicines may cause drowsiness. ASTELIN 137mcg/SPRAY SOLUTION IS FOR THE NOSE ONLY. Do not get it in your eyes or mouth. If you get it in these areas, rinse with cool tap water at once. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. This includes any allergy medicine or any medicine that contains an antihistamine (eg, diphenhydramine). FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Astelin 137mcg/spray Solution during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF ASTELIN 137mcg/SPRAY SOLUTION IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using Astelin 137mcg/spray Solution, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while using Astelin 137mcg/spray Solution include bitter taste; drowsiness; fatigue; headache; mild nasal bleeding, burning, stinging, or discomfort; or sudden sneezing attack. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience repeated or persistent nosebleeds; or severe nasal irritation. An allergic reaction to Astelin 137mcg/spray Solution is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue. DO NOT SHARE ASTELIN 137mcg/SPRAY SOLUTION with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE ASTELIN 137mcg/SPRAY SOLUTION for other health conditions. KEEP ASTELIN 137mcg/SPRAY SOLUTION out of the reach of children and pets. IF USING ASTELIN 137mcg/SPRAY SOLUTION FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, obtain refills before your supply runs out.
