I tried letting him run without a diaper as much as possible but still as soon as another one was on he would get bright red again. I repeatedly sterilized the dipes to no avail. Finally I saw this stuff and saw that it has more than double the zinc oxide than the highest leveled one at the store, so even though it was a bit pricier than what I normally spend I got it anyway. After two applications his rash was gone. And this stuff lasts a really long time, because there's so much extra zinc in it you only need a little bit, like a pea sized drop or smaller, and it spreads thin really easily, much easier than the gunky stuff. I actually feel like I'm saving money because it lasts so much longer and I don't have to use it as often because it prevents rashes from coming back. Truly the best I have ever used. What bothers me about the product, however, is the grainy/lumpy texture it has when I squeeze it out of the bottle. After rubbing it between my finger for awhile, it smooths out, but it's unclear to me what it has this problem in the first place, as many other brands are much smoother. With these details in mind, I will not buy the product again, as I can buy other natural brands that are less lumpy and messy. Best Uses Comments about Avalon Baby Soothing Zinc Diaper Balm, 3 fl oz: I liked that this diaper balm doesn't have mineral oil, parabens, etc., and is reasonably priced. However, after using it for about a week, I found that it just doesn't stay in place. It's too thin; I apply it, and by the next diaper change, more of it is on the diaper than on my daughter's bum. It does help heal rash somewhat, but I've since switched to using the Burt's Bees ointment, and it is much more effective. Pros Cons Best Uses Comments about Avalon Baby Soothing Zinc Diaper Balm, 3 fl oz: My son is 11 weeks old. I bought this product based on reading positive reviews before he was born. We've used this diaper balm preventatively and consistently since he was born and he hasn't had a single diaper rash! We plan to continue using it! I use many of Avalon's beauty products for myself and feel they make high quality items. Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Was this review helpful? I've used Boudreux's butt paste, which had an awful scent and was really thick. This has no scent and has a great consistency. As another reviewer noted, but may be exagerrating, it does get a little grainy, but not lumpy. I don't think that interferes with it's effectiveness. Was this review helpful? Comments about Avalon Baby Soothing Zinc Diaper Balm, 3 fl oz: What a wonderful balm! It is creamy, smooth, and very easy to apply. Not at all greasy, like some diaper ointments I've tried. A bit thick, but that's a good thing when battling diaper rash! No yucky smells, and easy to wipe off later. Really great size for diaper bag - not too bulky or heavy to carry around. Will absolutely buy another when this tube is empty. Service and delivery comments: Quick delivery, packaged to avoid leaks. Comments about Avalon Baby Soothing Zinc Diaper Balm, 3 fl oz: I have been using this on my 2-year-old daughter since she was born and now on my 3 month-old baby. I don't use regular A,D & E ointment because I don't use mineral oil. This stuff works BETTER and it has no mineral oil in it (only organic oils and butters). I love, love, love it. I even use it on my own skin. I also use it on myself and my hubby! I buy this stuff in bulk! Comments about Avalon Baby Soothing Zinc Diaper Balm, 3 fl oz: Our son has an eczema-based diaper rash that will not go away. We use cloth diapers (or the cotton-covered Huggies Pure and Natural ones, but only for limited use) because he's generally allergic to disposables. But even with airing out and diaper-free times, his rash remains. We use hydrocortisone cream sparingly, but were so pleased with this cream because it really helps keep the rash down to a minimum and lets us decrease the use of hydrocortisone (we'd love to stop using it, but a writhing baby trying to scratch his whole diaper area raw at 2 a.m. isn't fun). I highly recommend this and I'm so glad we tried it. Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Was this review helpful? Comments about Avalon Baby Soothing Zinc Diaper Balm, 3 fl oz: We put this on our twin daughters each night before bed and during outings. They have never had a diaper rash (we use Seventh Gen diapers). This brand is the best because it protects well and easily cleans off when you want it to. It is the smoothest diaper cream we've tried (MUCH smoother than Butt Paste). Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Was this review helpful?
