I used to use primarily Clinique face products. However, my skin is changing and I wanted to consolidate the number of products I use in the morning. This moisturizer is a one-stop shop. I have redness on my cheeks and forehead that has been minimized after repeated use of this product. I experienced some flakiness on my forehead before using this, though it's no longer a problem now. I use several other Aveeno products and think they are spot-on for sensitive skin. Great and quick way to moisturize in the morning, offering sun protection and redness relief, and gets rid of that dry tightness that I used to feel on my skin after cleansing.

I'm probably on my 10th bottle of this sunscreen. It has excellent calming properties and is the most effective in dealing with the redness on my face.

Ive read some of the criticisms of the sunscreen ingredients and I have this to say: one should NEVER rely 100% on a topical application of sunscreen for protection. Avobenzone is known to be most stable in conjunction with certain other sunscreen ingredients...

"A number of different companies have developed systems to stabilize avobenzone in the final formulations. For example, a combination of avobenzone and 2-ethylhexyl ester (octocrylene) has been shown to achieve a photostable product.[4] The addition of diethylhexyl 2,6-naphthalate also makes avobenzone photostable.[5] The combination of diethylhexyl 2,6-naphthalatate, avobenzone and oxybenzone is known under the commercial name of Helioplex™ and it is present in UltraSheer® and Age Shield® sunscreens (Neutrogena®/Johnson & Johnson). The addition ofTinosorb S® (Ciba Specialty Chemicals) has also been shown to photostabilize avobenzone.[6] Confirmation of avobenzone´s photostability in a given formulation is difficult unless the sunscreen´s chemical stability has been studied and the results are published in a peer reviewed journal. In the absence of such studies, physicians can get indirect evidence of the photostability of a given formulation from UVA protection factor determination with methods such as persistent pigment darkening (PPD)."

But the issue that most people will have with sunscreens are the fact that they need to be reapplied every two hours (who does that?) and that they need to be applied properly.

You must not rely on ANY sunscreen for absolute protection. Use physical protection as well, and make sure you reapply.

This is an excellent product that does what it says it does.

This is a nice moiturizer but the fragrance is a little overbearing. I have combination skin and use this every morning. If you do not have problems with oily skin then this should work for you, but by mid-day with no foundation my face feels greasy and dirty.

When ROC changed their daily moisturizer, which I had used for years, I had to find a new, SPF moisturizer. As I am allergic to EVERY SPF product out there, except the old ROC daily moisturizer, I was afraid. This one, however, as it had the same active ingredients as the one I used to use, was a lifesaver. It works great, it is not oily, it did not make me break out like the new ROC did, and it is effective. I do not have redness nor is my skin sensitive, but I do easily break out. This has NOT caused me to break out and protected me from the sun. It is a great product.

I tried this for an extended period of time about a year ago and have not been willing to try it again.

This moisturizer is effective as far as MILDLY helping to reduced overall redness. If you have a heavy natural flush or a ruddy complexion this will not erase it, only help a little. HOWEVER, the scent was incredibly irritating. Why on earth did they include fragrance into a product marketed towards people with sensitive skin?! It's completely counter intuitive! What the heck?! Though the smell of the scent itself was fine and completely tolerable it caused the moisturizer to be especially irritating around the eye area and to the eyes themselves. And was one of the two reasons (the other being that it was too greasy on occasion) that prompted me to set the bottle aside on the shelf and eventually toss it out.

Despite Aveeno's heavily-invested marketing campaign to brand itself as a "green" and "natural" alternative to other drugstore lines, many of their products use the same kind of irritating and unhealthy ingredients as their competitors.

I've always had great skin but when I went through a bad bout with lots of sensitivity/redness recently, I thought this moisturizer might help, based on the reviews I had read. I was wrong!

1) The moisturizer stung my dry skin even more, sometimes making my eyes water. My dry skin turned even redder. I was pretty puzzled by this because I've never had sensitive skin before this episode. Some ingredient must have actually damaged my skin!

2) The sunscreen in this isn't photostable: that means the sunscreen ingredients actually break down soon after the sunlight hits it and may even cause your skin to be more sensitive to the damaging UV light. Essentially, using this would be worse than using no sunscreen at all.

3) This uses CHEMICAL sunscreen ingredients which tends to be VERY IRRITATING for sensitive skin types. Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide tend to be much much better for avoiding irritation. Zinc oxide is in fact CALMING--it's used in diaper rash creams. If aveeno really wanted to make a calming moisturizer, they should've used zinc oxide instead.

4) feverfew's useless--I looked up the ingredient list as listed in order of concentration, it was one of the last ingredients, there's way too little for it to have an effect.

IN conclusion/TL;DR: Irritating, skin-damaging ingredients, pretty much the opposite of a moisturizer you want for calming effects. Don't succumb to the deceptive marketing.

I have notoriously difficult skin, and moving to a drier climate my skin has freaked out. I used to have suc oily skin I hardly used moisturizer. I started using this awhile back and have almost forgotten when, I like to use department store serums (genifique or advanced night repair) but found department store creams too heavy or too irritating. This lotion was always my go to every time I couldn't find better, eventually became the only thing I could use.

I recenlty had a bad bad flare up after microdermabrasion (dumb, never doing it again) this lotion has helped me to recover. It helped above all the steroids and dermatoligist recommended lotions. I never should have tried anything else (would have saved me a lot of cash).

The cons: since my recent flare up I have learned a lot about lotions and cosmetics. And I've learned the burning in my eyes is not something I should just tolerate. This irritates my eyes, as do most lotions. It irritates them pretty bad which sort of negates using a calming lotion...but when it's the only thing that will work well...

There's a lot of chemicals and irritants in most lotions in the US, or it's petroleum based (I have sensitive oily skin, no thanks). I've since learned to avoid all this I have to buy from Europe, Canada or go completley natural.

I'm currently trying some all natural products from the health food store that so far work better and don't irritate my eyes (I would suggest trying this) but it is more expensive.

In a pinch, this lotion works, its not that expensive and I can put up with the eye irritation if it saves me from having irritated red skin. It does work for that.
