This is a great option for folks who have an issue with retinol being too strong for their skin. Some people say that retinaldehyde (contained in Eluage) is more effective than retinol, and if that's the case, great! But those with sensitive skin do not have to go without this very important nightly skin ritual. It is a rich cream with a light peach tint that disappears into the skin quickly, and is actually very moisturizing. An hour after using it, I apply a night cream to my undereye and cheek areas (the drier areas of my face). As the days and weeks go by, I have noticed that my skin has a finer, clearer texture and just keeps on improving.

This cream isn't a miracle worker, but it certainly has made a difference in my skin. I use it at night only--it's leaves a shiny, greasy film on your face, so you wouldn't want to use it during the day, under makeup, IMO. After about a month of daily use, my skin texture is softer and smoother. I haven't noticed any difference in age/sun spots, but I use other products for that. Eluage is especially great If you have acne-prone skin. It won't cause breakouts!!

I tried this brand of retinol hoping it would help clear up my clogged pores and occasional breakouts and I have been happy with the results. It is not as drying as other brands of retinol I have used, and not as irritating as the precription formula I got from my doctor. It leaves my skin moist and supple which helps with the drying that occurs with these products. It took several weeks of use, but my pores are clearer and I haven't had any more pimples. Yeah!

I'm on my 2nd bottle of this --the smoothing serum is great, too. Have tried some moisturizing serums and glycolic gels and they either don't work or give me rashes. (I'm over 50 with sensitive skin). I read about this wonderful stuff in a Wash.Post. article and also appreciated the other reviewers here. It doesn't eliminate wrinkles overnight, but in two months, it has noticeably evened my skin tone,texture & pore size, and begun to soften wrinkles. A mild, yet very effective retinol with NO side effects. Smells wonderful, melts into the skin like butter. Look no further.

I've tried all of the expensive brands – from LaMer to Chanel- to the drugstore brands such as Olay and this is the best product I've found. My local drugstore [...] no longer carries this brand, so I was thrilled to find it at drugstore.com. The retinoid in this product is gentle enough to use daily or several times a week for beginners or those with sensitive skin and I think it works better than the retinol that the dermatologist prescribed for me. Wonderful product for the price.

First impression was good. I have fair, freckled and sensitive skin so products with Retin can be irritating. Advice for those w/sensitive skin: apply & let it sit for about 5 minutes, then ADD a layer of moisturizer over that. I did this b/c product alone was too drying. With added moisturizer I had little irritation. As other reviewer said, it does "melt" into your skin. Smells a little perfume-y but that doesn't last. Can't wait to see what happens....hopefully it's "bye bye" wrinkles!

I've read about Avene products for months, but chose to try other products. Finally I decided to try Eluage. The moment I put it on my face, it was one of those rare "I stinkin love this stuff" moments. It goes on like a cream, but then (for lack of a better word) MELTS into your skin. I experienced NO irritation whatsoever. By the next morning, skin blemishes were promptly drying up. I've already reordered Eluage and decided to try (and have ordered and received) other products in the Avene line. Nothing quite as impressive as Eluage yet [...] Thank you Avene.
