This is the ONLY sunscreen my kids will use now. I was using Jason Naturals children's sunscreen (in the yellow bottle) but it is SO thick and hard to spread, and so opaque-white my kids hated it. And when you are putting sunscreen on a squirming 2 year old, you don't have time to rub-rub-rub it in. The Badger sunscreen is thick, yes, but it does rub in fairly quickly (helps if you warm it in your hand first to melt it). Now if I try to put non-natural sunscreens on the kids, they complain about the "yucky" sunscreen. Amazing that even such young children can tell what's good and natural and what are chemicals. Anyway, they (and I) love the fragrance and the creamy feel of it. We have very fair skin, so the whitening is no big deal for us. We live in a very sunny climate, so we have to be coated with sunscreen every day. I feel good using this on myself and my kids, all over, every day, knowing that there are no potentially harmful chemicals in it. If you are looking for a thin-consistency, matte, undetectable sunscreen you will be disappointed with this. I was looking for a completely-natural, safe, pleasant to use sunscreen, and I have been very happy with this. This sunscreen has a very good safety rating on Environmental Working Group's Skin Deep Report. VS Most Liked Negative Review Does work, but definitely not perfect We were looking for a non-chemical sunscreen, and also one that was rated highly by the Environmental Working Group (EWG), including their rating for sunscreen stability. This product DID fit that bill. This product is good, but like the other reveiwers have said, it stayed pretty white on my entire body and streaked everywhere. Just couldn't rub it in completely. And now, can't get it out of my bathing suit. I'll use it on my 4-year-old, but will continue to use Soleo, also rated very highly by EWG. Comments about Badger Lightly Scented Sunscreen SPF 30, Lavender, 2.9 oz: I apply it when I will be in the sun for a while. The cream is too thick and hard to spread out. But if you put it under the sun for a while, it softens and becomes easier to apply. I think it does the work, just doesn't look very even or great. Pros

Comments about Badger Lightly Scented Sunscreen SPF 30, Lavender, 2.9 oz: I wasn't as put off by the smell as some of the other reviewers, but found this extremely thick and difficult to rub in. I like that it's more "natural" than other sunscreens - just be prepared to spend a few minutes getting rid of the white cream. Comments about Badger Lightly Scented Sunscreen SPF 30, Lavender, 2.9 oz: I use this daily on my face, hands, and chest. It is a safer sunscreen (chemical-wise) so it has the zinc oxide that does not rub in as well. That is something you have to get over if you want to go to this type and avoid the dangerous chemicals in most brands. It is off-white which helps to blend a little better than pure white but if you are tan, it looks worse than if you are fair skinned. Pros

Comments about Badger Lightly Scented Sunscreen SPF 30, Lavender, 2.9 oz: We use this daily in the summer. Kids don't love it because it rubs on white, but very effective sun protection. I love it because its ingredient list is on the safer side -- far less toxins than other sun block. It is a little pricier than some products, but the health concerns far outweigh the cost. Pros

Comments about Badger Lightly Scented Sunscreen SPF 30, Lavender, 2.9 oz: I wanted a chemical free, organic product because I react to all sunscreens especially since I have rosacea. This stuff is a miracle. I have no reaction at all and it really works. Some complaints about rubbing it in weren't a problem for me. It takes a few seconds to apply it like any other. It has a slightly whitish appearance but so do all the others. I have about six sunscreens including the expensive brands but this is the one I use. The tinge of white didn't bother me at all. I walked around all day with it on without feeling conspicuous! Pros

Comments about Badger Lightly Scented Sunscreen SPF 30, Lavender, 2.9 oz: This is the best, longest-lasting sunscreen I've ever used. It's my go-to sunscreen. It goes on thick and white, which I like. Once it soaks in, it stays on and keeps me protected on the beach. I have normal/dry skin, and can use it on my face without breaking out. (Even Neutrogena face sunblocks cause me to break out a day after I've used them.) Pros

Comments about Badger Lightly Scented Sunscreen SPF 30, Lavender, 2.9 oz: This product is a bit heavier and more difficult to apply than the SPF 15 that Badger also puts out. In the summer, I use it daily after my "morning ablutions", and get around the "greasy, hard-to-rub-in" challenges by first putting an amount of this in the palm of my hand and then mixing it with Fruit of the Earth Vitamin E Skin Care Cream (which I have used for over 10 years now), and then applying it to my arms and whatever else might be exposed to the sun that day. With that technique, no complaints here! Pros

Cons
Best Uses Comments about Badger Lightly Scented Sunscreen SPF 30, Lavender, 2.9 oz: as far as organic, all natural sunscreens come, this one is one of the better ones. As a brand, Badger comes very highly recommended. It is a little heavy and smells "natural".... but with all the talk about how horrible most sunscreens are (especially the sprays) it's very much worth using. Working in a child care center, we now have to make parents aware of the dangers of using most sunscreens. Those chemicals that make it smell nice, non-greasy or rub in well are actually harming us. Badger is a good choice. ![]() |
