My husband got a BIG gash on the top of his head. I wanted him to go to emergency, but he wouldn't. I cleaned it up and used these Butterfly Band-Aids. Open wound tissue begins to heal immediately when exposed to air. The longer a wound stays open: (1) The more it is prone to infection (2) The longer it takes to heal (3) The larger the resultant scar tissue.

Wash out an incision with an antibiotic scrub such as Betadine and close it promptly with these butterfly closures. Obviously you should seek medical attention if the wound is severe.
