Warnings
Always keep the test strips in the original bottle. Tightly close the bottle immediately after removing a test strip. The bottle is designed to keep the test strips dry. Exposure to room humidity from leaving the bottle open or not storing them in the original bottle can damage your test strips. Do not drop blood directly on the fl at surface of the test strip. Your test strip is designed to easily "sip" the blood into the sample tip. Do not press the test strip against your finger. This may block the sample tip. Test strips are for single use only. Do not use a test strip that appears damaged or has been used. Let the meter and test strips adjust to the temperature of the location where you are testing. Allow 20 minutes for the meter to adjust to the temperature of that new location before performing a blood glucose test. The products have been designed to give accurate results at temperatures between 41°F and 113°F. Please be aware that USB ports in some computers and self-powered USB hubs can become much warmer than the room. A USB cable has been provided for your convenience. If you wish to test immediately after disconnecting from your computer, please use the USB cable. Check the expiration dates on your test strips and control solution. Potential Biohazard: The Microlet® 2 lancing device is designed for self testing by a single patient. It must not be used on more than one person due to the risk of infection. Use a new Microlet® lancet each time you test because it is no longer sterile after use. Always dispose of test strip and lancet properly. All products that come in contact with human blood should be handled as if capable of transmitting viral diseases.

This meter is great for anyone that hates (or forgets) recording all of the data in the logbook. Plus I often forget to take the logbook to my doctor. I can either print out the sheets or I can send a .pdf to my doctor. I suspect she'll want me to send them as she is attempting to go as paperless as poosible. I've only used this meter for a few weeks but already love it. I switched from a Freestyle meter to the USB and even the lanceting is less painful. I haven't had a chance yet to see what else the software is capable of doing, but I really like what I've been able to do so far.
My only 'improvement' comment would be that I wish there was a way to make more comments on the meter readings, but that's a small nit.

This glucose monotor looks terrific, and I was looking forward to using it. However, it is *not* compatible with Macs running MacOS 10.6 ("Snow Leopard"), which includes most Macs sold since mid-2009 as well as many older ones which were upgraded.
Although this has been a known issue for a long time, Bayer has neither released a fix nor said when one will be forthcoming. I hear that it is also incompatible with Windows 7 computers (i.e. most new Windows machines bought in the last several months.)
This is really a big problem for Bayer — I hope they get their technical act together soon, or this promising product will be stillborn. This meter is marketed to early adopters of technology — who are precisely the people most likely to have newer OS versions on their home computers!
Comments about Bayer Contour USB Blood Glucose Monitoring System, Model 7393A:
Love the reports !!! I can plug the meter into my computer and have monthly, or weekly or even daily chart to take to the doctor. I am 70 years old and my sugar levels can be hard to control. This meter is easy to use, the read-out is big enough for me to see, the the warning levels help a lot. Plus the doc loves the summary reports. And the test strips need less blood than my old olds.
Comments about Bayer Contour USB Blood Glucose Monitoring System, Model 7393A:
This product has made life much more simple for me. I am a busy single mom and this gives me accurate results in a convenient form. It also allows me to send my results to my doctor. I have used other products but Contour is my favorite. You won't be disappointed.

Comments about Bayer Contour USB Blood Glucose Monitoring System, Model 7393A:
I think it is great that the meter can connect directly to computer via USB. Instead of trying to keep a seperate notebook of results, the Glucofacts software will compile and organize the results which can be printed or emailed to the doctor.
Comments about Bayer Contour USB Blood Glucose Monitoring System, Model 7393A:
This was indeed a great purchase. I think this is the easiest meter that I have ever used. And what a great price. While I know you can get meters for free, this is very easy to plug into your usb port on your computer and it will install the software and download your information. Printing reports to take to your doctors is quick and painless.
Comments about Bayer Contour USB Blood Glucose Monitoring System, Model 7393A:
Have used one of these Bayer USB meters ever since they were first made available. It's compact; easily plugs into my computer. Since the software is right in the meter, the computer finds it immediately and downloads the readings. The battery, once charged, is very long-lasting.
Comments about Bayer Contour USB Blood Glucose Monitoring System, Model 7393A:
No coding! The meter readings can be downloaded into the free computer program to generate graphs and charts. Your readings in these can help you spot patterns in your readings.
1. To remove the endcap, hold the device with your thumb on the grip indent and hold the endcap dial in the other hand. Snap the endcap off from top to bottom. 2. Loosen the round protective cap on a lancet by rotating it turn, but do not remove it. 3. Insert the lancet firmly into the lancing device until it comes to a full stop. 4. Twist off the round protective lancet cap. Save it for disposing of the used lancet. 5. Replace the solid color endcap. NOTE: Your Contour® USB meter codes itself every time you insert a test strip, so you do not have to worry about getting inaccurate results due to miscoding or forgetting to code your meter. 6. Remove a test strip from the bottle. Tightly close the bottle lid immediately after you have removed the test strip. 7. Hold the test strip with the gray end facing up. 8. Insert the gray end into the test strip port on the meter. After the meter turns on, a solid gray screen with a white border will appear for one second to show that the screen is working properly. The Contour USB logo screen will briefly appear before the Apply Blood screen. The meter is now ready to test a blood drop. Getting the Blood Drop: For fingertip testing: Use the gray endcap. 1. Rotate the endcap dial to adjust the puncture depth. The amount of pressure applied to the puncture site also affects puncture depth. 2. Press the endcap firmly against the puncture site and press the blue release button with the Bayer logo. 3. Stroke your hand and finger towards the puncture site to form a drop of blood. Do not squeeze around the puncture site. 4. Test immediately after you have formed a small, round blood drop (0.6 L). Collecting Your Blood Drop: 1. Immediately touch the tip of the test strip to the drop of blood. The blood is drawn into the test strip tip. 2. Hold the tip of the test strip in the blood drop until the meter beeps. Do not press the tip against the skin or place the blood on top of the test strip. Testing with AutoLog On: Before your test result is displayed, the AutoLog screen appears. Select Before Meal, After Meal or No Mark by pressing the button next to it. Your test result will not display until you make a selection. However, if your result is a low blood sugar result or high blood sugar result, you will always see your result in 5 seconds. Your meter features a 5 second test time. If you make your selection in less than 5 seconds, you will see the remainder of the testing countdown. Your test result is displayed in large numbers for 2 seconds before changing to the normal test result screen.
