Just Add Mentos, Pull the Trigger... and Run Away! The Internet Sensation
Make a 25 Foot Soda Geyser!
Ages 8 +
Mentos® + Soda = Geyser! Learn how to trigger an enormous geyser by dropping Mentos® chewy mints into a bottle of soda using the Geyser Tube™.
How Does it Work? Each Mentos® chewy mint has thousands of tiny pits all over the surface. These tiny pits are called nucleation sites - perfect places for carbon dioxide bubbles in the soda to form. As soon as the Mentos® hit the soda, bubbles form all over the surface of the chewy mints and quickly rise to the surface of the liquid. Couple this with the fact that Mentos® are heavy and sink to the bottom of the bottle and you've got a double-whammy. When all this gas is released, it literally pushes all of the liquid up and out of the bottle in an incredible soda blast.
Conforms to ASTM F-963

Service and delivery comments:
Delivery was prompt. The product arrived in perfect condition. I am very impressed with drugstore.com and would gladly recommend this company to anyone.
Got these for stocking stuffer gifts. My kids had a lot of fun with these. We used diet soda because I'm told it's less sticky. We used 7 mentos with each reaction (half a pack) and got geysers shooting 10+ feet in the air. With the one pack of mentos that come with the tube, you can do the reaction 2 times. You will need 2 liter bottles of soda. Fun to watch! Just make sure you do it on a very level surface....we had one fall over when the pin was pulled and the soda shot out sideways.
You'll need a 2-liter bottle of diet soda (diet doesn't make a sticky mess) and an outdoor location for your geyser. Select a flat surface on the lawn or driveway to place the bottle. Start by tying on e end of the string to the trigger pin. Open the bottle of soda and attach the Geyser Tube. Put the trigger pin into the hole to block the hole (so the Mentos® can't accidentally fall into the soda before you want them to). Remove the top "cap" of the Geyser Tube and drop seven Mentos® into the tube. Replace the top "cap" of the Geyser Tube. Warn everyone to stand back. Countdown...3-2-1...and pull the trigger. The Mentos® will drop and the soda will go flying in the air! Pour out the remaining soda and take a look at the Mentos®. You can see where the soda has eaten away at their surface. No need to waste the candy...they still taste great. Keep soda out of eyes.
