Why Use a Stain?
Lipstain is a unique product that is designed to provide color like lipstick
but not to fully cover the lips. When you apply a lipstain, the results are translucent, meaning that some of the natural color of the lips shows through the hue of the product. You can use a lipstain on days when you want a more natural look to your appearance or when you want to ensure that you have at least a hint of color to your lips all day long despite eating and drinking. The long-lasting color of lipstain remains present for hours after application, so that it can continue to enhance your beauty without needing frequent reapplications.
Types of Lipstain
There are a few different varieties of lipstain, and each type can be used to create gorgeous effects. One of the most common types is the maker or pen, which has a felted tip. With this type of lipstain, you simply color your lips with the tip and let the liquid dry. Other lipstain formulas are slightly thicker in consistency and come with a sponge-tipped wand applicator like many lip gloss products. These formulas provide slightly more coverage than pens. A small number of lipstain products are crayons that remain slightly creamy after application, never fully drying. They give the lips a sleeker look and often contain moisturizer like lip balm to hydrate the lips.
Creating Looks with Lipstain
While you can get lovely results using lipstain alone, you can also use it along with other lip cosmetics to create different looks. You can line your lips with a matching lip liner to define and accentuate them and then use lipstain to provide color. When you use lipstain beneath lip gloss
, you get the benefits of extended color with high shine. You can also use lipstain beneath lipstick for a multi-dimensional look. The lipstain base will remain in place even if your lipstick wears off, ensuring that you have continuous color.
Getting the Right Color
If you want to get the best results from your lipstain, you need to select the perfect shade for your needs. Nude colors tend to complement all complexion types and are perfect for pairing with very bold eye looks, such as cat's eye liner effects or smoky shadows. When selecting other colors, find shades that are in the same color family as the undertones of your skin. Women with golden, peach or orange undertones will look gorgeous in warmer colors, such as corals, peaches, taupe, browns and brown and orange-tinged reds. To complement pink, blue or violet undertones, try cooler shades like pinks, purples, berries and reds that are pink or purple-tinged. By mixing and matching lipstain with your other lip color products, you can create new colors and have new lip looks to try out every day. back to top »
