This is over 5...Read complete review I just used this in the advised heavy soiling concentration (10 oz per gallon of water, vs. 5 oz.) on my entry areas, via a Hoover Steam Vac. This is over 5 years of dirt - my light beige carpet has been vacuumed of course during this time, but not shampooed, so the dirt is really set in. I will go back and use a pre-treatment spray over the most soiled areas, but I was impressed and surprised how well this worked even on those areas. For the average areas, this worked beautifully, so I would definitely recommend this for more ongoing maintenance cleaning. I think any reduced effectiveness compared to the harsher cleaners is offset by the creature-friendliness of the product. Even if I have to use a harsh pre-treatment this go around (I will try the Biokleen Stain & Odor Eliminator next time), at least I know it's being extracted from the carpet, then followed-up with a less toxic cleaner. It has a fantastically fresh, citrusy smell, and my carpet feels soft and clean, not sticky or stiff. I think this does a great job for both the price and peace of mind. Comments about biokleen Carpet & Rug Shampoo 64 oz., 64 fl oz: I use this with my carpet cleaning machine, and it's better than any of the previous products I've used. With a new puppy, I am using Biokleen products a lot, and feel confident that it works against the bacteria and odor of puppy "mistakes". I find that I have to use less, since it's highly concentrated, so with the machine I like to run a rinse over the area I've shampooed. Also has a nice fragrance. We have a Bissell home rug shampoo machine, and I was tired of using their toxic refill rug shampoo that gave me headaches and left me coughing and the house with a stench we had to air out for days. I went online looking for a green version of a rug shampoo cleaner to use with a machine, and found this one. We use many of the Biokleen products already and find the line to be quite superior to other green products we have used, so I was glad to see they also had a rug shampoo Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Was this review helpful? I looked everywhere for a good shampoo that I could use in my home Bissell rug shampooer and biokleen was perfect. My carpets are beautiful, just an ever so slight smell of grapefruit. I have a 70# dog who sheds and foot trafffic. This was the only product I could find on the market and I am so greatful. Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Was this review helpful? I used it in a home rug cleaning machine, and it worked wonders. Got out stains that my standard carpet cleaner did not, and left the whole room smelling wonderful. Definitely will be using this product again!
