My natural hair is fine and thick (the individual hairs are thin and smooth but there's a lot of it), manageable and healthy. It's a little wavy on its own, so I typically towel well and then blow-dry with a round brush. Before I colored my hair, I used to use Pantene shampoo and conditioner, which worked great.

5 years ago I started having professional foil color done every 8 weeks. With the huge cost of doing that, I wanted to keep using my inexpensive hair products, but my hair turned into straw--when I would lather and massage, my hair got into knots instantly and when dry, it was brittle. "Deep conditioners" typically just include ceramide (wax) that makes hair seem softer but gunks it up and dulls color.

I have used Biolage color care shampoo and conditioner for a few years now and I still have to use a treatment such as a serum or cream before drying my hair, but the Biolage color care line is worlds better than typical drugstore products--and my color always looks great.

I read the reviews before ordering, and several people mentioned problems with scalp irritation. Since I have NEVER had any issues with all the shamnpoos I have used over the years I was sure I would be fine. WRONG. Even after one use, my scalp felt like it was ON FIRE, total irriation. I continued for a few more days and things got worse. So much tingling, burning, itching, I was going crazy. If I had bought it at a store I would have probably been able to return it, but Drugstore.com says once opened no returns. Ugh.

I would not be without this product. A little more expensive--but a little goes a long--long way with all of their product lines that I have used. I have below shoulder length --thick hair. My hair has never looked better or has been easier to handle.

I have used Biolage Matrix for many years and have found it to be a step above products I have used in the past. The last shampoo dried my hair out which this does not do.

My hair is color treated (normally gray) and therefore dry and not in the best shape! This shampoo lathers well, cleans wonderfully, and leaves my hair soft!

For years I have been buying expensive hair products from my salon. Unfortunately, I left my shampoo in a hotel room and since I needed to place an order with drugstore.com I ordered this shampoo as well. WOW!!!! LOVE IT for all the reasons I listed and that just a very small amount is necessary for great lather and cleaning. Very economical.
