I was told to only use a small amount by the stylist at the salon and have found that it doesn't lather as much as store-bought shampoos unless you use a lot of it. I don't think the lathering has anything to do with how well it cleans because this product definitely cleans nicely - you just have to train yourself to not add more in order to get a soapy lather or you will be wasting the product and your money. I asked to get a shampoo for my husband's soft hair and my coarse, color treated hair and also a conditioner. I was sold this and the Detangling Conditioner. I kept telling the lady that neither of us had any tangles. Our hair is 1-3" long. Felt kind of dry and unmanageable after a week. I have used many Matrix products over the years. For the first week, I loved it. It helped with oil and made my hair less stringy. But after the first week, it made my hair very greasy, even limper, and caused dandruff. I tried using a clarifying shampoo but it didn't make the shampoo any better. The only thing I like is the smell.

I have trouble "degreasing" my hair without over-drying the ends. This product really cleans my scalp without leaving my ends dried out. I have been using it for 5 years. It leaves my hair feeling softer, fuller & lighter than any other product I've found. The smell is nice without being too overpowering. I also like to use their detangling solution or leave in tonic. I finish my ends with Aveda Smoothing Fluid when I wear my hair long. This combo achieves my goal of a healthy looking, soft, lustrous head of hair. I have color treated hair (blonde) and have always been told to use a moisturizing/volumizing shampoo. I tried this product to see if it would help with the oiliness after one day and it does a nice job. I use the light detangling solution on the ends of my hair, not on my scalp. My hair is healthier, less oily at the roots and I can go without washing for a day. I'm pleased with the results and will continue to use the product. I have not noticed dryness with my hair or scalp. I've been using the product about 3-4 weeks.
