I don't know what started it, but my cheek just broke out in these terribly painful pimples or sores. At one time I would have about 15 or 20 pimples grouped together. I tried everything that I was told to try and nothing helped. I considered seeing a dermatologist, but didn't have the money. On a whim, I saw this face wash and bought it along with the Biore moisturizer. By this time, my face was scarred from this problem. I decided to take some Biore nose strips I had laying around and instead of using them on my nose, I put them on my cheek. After taking the strip off, I noticed these large cork type things on it. I washed with the face wash, used the moisturizer and went to bed. The next day the soreness was completely gone and a lot of the bumps had diminished. I haven't had a problem with them since. The scars are still there, but I feel so much better! I really wanted to like this cleanser, as I generally like most things Bioré. Unfortunately, this made me break out with painful cystic acne. The first time around, I wasn't sure that this was the cause. I stopped using it immediately, and after my face cleared up a couple of months later, I tried it again just to confirm. After only a few uses, the cystic acne started surfacing again. I feel that it is gentle compared to similar items, my skin definitely isn't dried out at all -- I have mildly oily skin, breaking through usually after 5 hours. One drawback for me, at first, was the smell: I *hate* melons, especially cantaloupe, and that's what this smelled like to me. I like the "ice" effect, but I find that the foam has to stay on my face for at least 3 minutes to really feel it, and even then it isn't strong; it isn't a problem for me because I use it with an exfoliating pad or washcloth so I'm already spending that extra time anyway. I have tried practically every salicylic acid product out there to help my acne, but most of them have extremely dried out my face. Due to the fact that I have combination skin, if I put a moisturizer on afterwards, my face usually became too oily. I wanted an acne wash that wasn't so harsh, so I decided to try this. I was very happy with the way that it felt on my skin. It had a cooling sensation (due to the menthol), and to my belief, it did NOT dry my face out. This wash is the only face wash that did not dry my face out, like other salicylic acid products have in the past. However, I noticed a very minimal improvement on my acne with this product. If you have combination skin, and would like a mild acne cleanser, this may be for you. Within days of using the Ice Cleanser all those breakouts cleared up and I got comments from relatives about how much better my skin looked. It has kept all my monthly breakouts at bay and I now seldom get one bad pimple. After using it for a few days, some areas of my face felt like a sand paper, and the blemishes were STILL THERE!
