I frequently get dry chapped lips in the winter and also any time it is especially windy. I usually apply the ointment at bedtime, and by morning I find a noticeable improvement to my lips! Although the camphor and menthol are soothing, I truly believe it is the allantoin in the product which works so well. On the drugstore.com site's ingredient list for the product, it continues to say that allantoin is the main active ingredient, however, when you purchase the product now, the packaging now has demoted allantoin to the "inactive" status. I'm sure this is just a regulatory requirement. I have tried numerous other similar-type products in the past, with similar ingredients but minus the allantoin, and they just didn't work. The allantoin, as you can gather, is key for me. As long as the product coninues to include it in its ingredient list, I'll continue to purchase it. Chapstick never worked for me, this does. In fact right now, im out, and i have the worst hurting chapped lips ever and just the thought of putting the soothing healing ointment on them makes them feel better. every time i put it on, my dry parched chapped lips feel better in less than one hour and are completley healed in one day. i will never ever use another product, im a firm beleiver in Blistex Ointmnet. It's great for chapped lips, keeps my lips moist when lipstick makes them feel dried out, and I've even used it on paper cuts and small wounds. Its healing properties are great!
