Although I am always looking for a bargain, sunscreen is not an area I will compromise. My dermatologist recommended applying Blue Lizard sunscreen every 45 minutes while in the sun. I like the sensitive formula, as I have occular rosea, and the regular formula irritated the area around my eyes. I have no problems with the sensitive formula. This sunscreen is thick. When finished applying, you should see a white film. (This ensures you have applied enough product for protection.) The whiteness disappears fairly quickly. It's so important to buy sunscreen with both UVA and UVB protection. The cheaper sunscreens just don't offer as good protection.

Use on face, neck & other exposed skin for golf and tennis which equates to long hours in the sun. I am outdoors daily & use the product. However, it is very drying to the skin. My legs were parched after washing off and my facial skin became rough and unable to accept makeup well. Product must be re-applied frequently (ev 2 hours for me when I can feel my skin burning from the sun). Washing off is difficult and needs to scrubbed vigorously with washcloth; otherwise the skin continues to have a white cast to it. Disappointed it did not prevent darkening and blotchiness of my skin. Purchased this product as an alternative to chemical-based sunscreens (I break out in rashes). Am seeking other chemical-free alternatives.

Comments about Blue Lizard Australian Sunscreen, Sensitive, SPF 30+, Fragrance Free, 8.75 fl oz:

My kids have very sensitive skin. Other sunscreens give them rashes. This one is the only that doesn't and it provides great protection. Applies smoothly -- we get adequate protection by applying small amounts (too much and it can get messy -- white smearing).

I bought this sunscreen to use for my whole family. We do a lot of boating and swimming so I wanted something that will last and rub in quickly. My kids have both used it and really like how easy it was to apply and I was impressed with the protection. I know it is more than other sunscreens but worth the price. This was also listed on the EWG website as one of the sunscreens they recommend for 2013.

Playing golf up to five times a week all year round and having had basel cell carcinoma, I need effective protection. Blue Lizard was recommended by my dermatologist. For the last three years it has worked for me with no side effects.

I was very happy with this product for my two sons, ages 6 and 4. They both have sensitive skin and have developed rashes from other sunblocks, even ones that claim to be for children/sensitive skin, (i.e. coppertone, banana boat). We used it all summer at the beach and swimming pool and it offered great protection. Not one sunburn all summer - what more can you ask for?? Yes it's pricey but when it comes to sun protection you get what you pay for. I'd never buy anything else.

My daughter is allergic to several sunscreens. This was recommend by our Dermatologist after being treated for a Spitz-Nevus. We had no allergic reactions and no sunburns. She recently went to the beach and played in the sand, ocean and the pool. Until this year she always came home with a sunburn and I am excited for once we are sunburn free.

This is the only sunscreen that has ever worked for me and I have tried everything with varying degrees of SPF. Blue Lizard covers great and stays on even after swimming in the ocean. It is is also super cool when the bottle turns blue!

I will never buy another brand of sunscreen.....can't wait to try other blue lizard products. GREAT product.....I can finally be outside and enjoy the sun!!!! :-)

Comments about Blue Lizard Australian Sunscreen, Sensitive, SPF 30+, Fragrance Free, 8.75 fl oz:

We recently went to Hawaii for vacation, and I bought this based on the EWG's recommendation that this doesn't have bad chemical ingredients and is effective protection from UVA/UVB rays. I was looking for sunscreens that have quality ingredients that will work and be nice to my skin.

I was pretty surprised when I first received this bottle. It was really small for the price. We used this bottle up between the two of us in 10 days worth of vacation. It's not waterproof which is a major bummer and kept me from going in the water as much as I would have otherwise. It's hard to rub in; it gets on my clothes and bathing suit if I'm not careful. As far as I can tell, it washes out of clothes OK - bathing suits are a bit more of a challenge, but I hate having white all over my darker clothes. It's inconvenient.

I got a fake tan to start me off, and the white coloring washed me out and made me look gray.

The other thing, I didn't get an ounce of color while on vacation. I'm OK with it, and god knows it's better than getting burned and only proves this stuff really works - who needs a sunburn? But I was a little bummed that I didn't have anything to show for my travels. I wondered if people at work even believed I was on vacation. I wish they would make this in 25+ SPF instead.

The worst part of it was it gave me incredibly dry skin and hives all on the insides of my arms and neck and collar bone before our vacation time was done; essentially the more sensitive, delicate skin. I have extremely sensitive skin, so this didn't surprise me. But I wondered if I applied it incorrectly? I was careful to reapply after some time lapse or if I got wet. I always showered before and afterward. Could it be I reapplied in the sun? Or let some time pass that one time after getting wet before putting more on? No, I think I will try different products. Rashes are never a good thing. It's just a way of your skin telling you to get this stuff off of you!
I can't recommend this product for people with sensitive skin.

This is the best for my kids who are allergic to chemical sunscreens around their eyes. It seems to last well but it does need to be re-applied after time. It does not leave the skin white but sinks in. There is a bit of a shine though. Great for kids, easy to apply.
