The Brazil French Press coffee maker, designed in the early 80's, was our first coffee maker and quickly became a symbol of what Bodum stands for. The domed lid is made of a smooth polypropylene and has the special Bodum safety and aroma seal to keep your coffee warm for a longer time. Brewing coffee in the Brazil is one of life's great pleasures.

This is the 3rd sub-$50 French Press I've owned and it is by far the best one. The pitcher itself is glass and is sturdy and doesn't move around in the handle. But the plunger is where this thing really sets itself apart. Other presses I've used had cheap plastic rings around the plunger screen that didn't do their job well and began deteriorating. This one, however, uses a metal mesh and metal coil that does a fantastic job preventing the ground coffee from seeping through.
Clean-up seems to be easier, in that less ground coffee accumulates in the filter, so it's less messy when you run water over it.
Finally, I've used it daily for about a month now, and there's been zero discoloration of the pitcher glass. The other two presses I've owned had plastic pitchers that turned brown fairly quickly. This one still shines.
