This is a great product for gas permeable contact lens comfort. I've used it for years and couldn't live without it. The new packaging lid design is awful, but the product itself is still the best. If you've been using other brands, try this for a month or two - your eyes will feel great. I wear my gas permeable lenses every day for at least 15 hours a day - heavy computer use, lots of reading. Boston makes them moist and comfortable. I had to have muhc shorter days of lens wear with other brands. Also, my contacts usually last about four years. Seriously, I get that much use and comfort from them.

I've worn rigid gas perm. lenses for about 27 years after wearing "hard" lenses for 13 years. I tried the Boston Advance when it first came out many years ago and had an allergic reaction to it. The ophthalmologist said I was allergic to the preservative in it. I can use the original formula with no problem whatsoever. I bought the new "improved" formula last week without even noticing because the box was identical to the original formula box. It wasn't until the next morning when my contacts kept fogging up and causing my eyes to produce mucus that I realized that the box said "improved" instead of "original". I contacted B&L and they said they were streamlining their product selection and that I shouldn't have had a problem with the new solution. They claim the additional additive in it should make my contacts feel better! I need to find out what the added ingredient is so I can avoid it. After more than 40 years of using B&L I now have to find a new solution. Can't believe it.

"Improved" Formula Actually Inferior

Comments about Boston Improved Formula Conditioning Solution 3.5oz, 3.5 fl oz:

I began using Boston Original Formula Conditioning Solution when a similar product became unavailable. While not quite as good as the product I was using, it was acceptable as to lasting comfort. Since I began using the "improved" formula after the original formula solution apparently was removed from the market, my eyes become dry and the lenses feel scratchy after about two hours. Another problem is that the directions state to discard the solution 30 days after the container is opened. That means that most of the solution should be discarded and thus wasted.

Comments about Boston Improved Formula Conditioning Solution 3.5oz, 3.5 fl oz:

Boston touts itself as the premier rigid gas permeable contact lens solution maker, constantly upgrading and "improving" their wetting solutions. Frankly, I'm guessing that they replaced one inert ingredient from the mix in favor of another, less expensive, ingredient, calling it new and improved and charging more for it. This is not my go to brand, that one went off the market. I basically use whatever is the best price, because water, which I've used in a pinch, isn't very comfortable.

Why did you change the formula? I liked the original and can't used the "improved" version. My eyes simply water and water, and that causes the contacts to film over.

              Warning! Formula, exp. date changed

Comments about Boston Improved Formula Conditioning Solution 3.5oz, 3.5 fl oz:

Have worn rigid lenses for 44 years, Boston RGP lenses for over 20. Always used Original Formula (tried Advanced, eyes got irritated). This summer Bausch & Lomb first cheapened packaging, going from screw-on lid to a flip top lid that wouldn't stay shut, with the potential for contamination. They changed the lid a little, but now have cheapened the Original Formula. It no longer contains the "patented derivatized polyethylene glycol" which was a cushioning agent. And the package now says discard after 28 days instead of the original 90 days after opening. Bausch & Lomb customer service people say that they are working on getting permission to increase the discard time back to 90 days and claim that, altho the packaging does not so indicate, the percentages of other ingredients have been "adjusted". Web site still has Original Formula ingredients PDF, no mention of "Improved" Formula.

I've been wearing contacts since I was 11. I wear 'hard' ones. Most solutions eventually bother my eyes, but this one NEVER has! I've used it exclusively for over 10 years without a single problem. As a nurse, some days I wear my lenses for over 18 hours. The next day when I put in my lenses, no dryness or itching with this solution.
