I developed an irritation/bedsore near the leg of my underwear after a pantyliner's adhesive stuck to my skin overnight. When I pulled it off, I had a huge welt, which turned into a huge bedsore due to the rubbing of my underwear leg. Being allergic to latext and adhesives, and the location of the wound, all made it difficult for this to heal. My husband bought home all sorts of zinc oxide products, as well as the butt paste, which I thought was a joke on his part, although I was not laughing at all. I tried all other zinc products with gauze first and they helped a bit, but would stick to the wound, so when I had to change the dressing they would reopen the wound each time. I finally gave in and used the butt paste. It was soothing, pleasant smelling and cooled the area. I finally felt the area was getting better. It still has a ways to go, but this time I asked my husband to bring home the 16 oz jar as recommended by one reviewer since this is the only product that has helped the tender area. As long as I don't sit or move around too much and keep the butt place on the wound, I think this will be healed completely in another week. If I was forced to find one thing wrong with it, I'd have to say the color could be a bit lighter, but even that is something that you can live with when it works so well.

My baby has very pale, sensitive skin. when she developed diaper rash, we immediately started applying this product. The product prevented the diaper rash from getting any worse, but it did not treat the rash. In the end, we had to turn to a product with a higher content of zinc oxide. This probably would be great if she hadn't already developed the rash.

Comments about Boudreaux's Butt Paste, Orignal Diaper Rash Ointment Jar, 16 oz:

When I first tried Boudreaux's on my 2 month old baby I absolutely hated the smell. It was efectivve but I just couldn't get over how sickeningly sweet and weird it smelled. The color is also pretty nasty which always leaves brown marks on the diapers. Not a pretty sight! Finally, I always have to use an extra wipe to take this sticky goo off my fingers after a diaper change. So these are all the negatives...

That said, this product is very very effective. And the value is very good, especially is you're buying this large containeer. It lasts a long time.

There are better diaper creams out there. My favorite is Weleda Baby Care but at $7-12 for a small tube it really adds up fast.

That's why I'm giving Boudreaux's 4 stars. A very effective diaper cream at a good price. Can be improved.

When my baby had a dermatitis on the head and our doctor recommended applying diaper cream for a couple of days (it worked very well) I certainly wouldn't want to use nasty brown Boudreaux's on my little one's pretty face. It's a butt paste after all...

I have used Butt Paste for years with good results but it was often hard to squeeze out of the tube. The tub is much easier to use. Recently I had an infant with diaper a rash that was difficult to clear up, a nurse suggested I mix Butt paste and Desiting together and it worked!

Its great to coat your feet, then put on socks before you sleep. A little any time you change socks. Your skin will clear and calluses will get smoother with each use.

Comments about Boudreaux's Butt Paste, Orignal Diaper Rash Ointment Jar, 16 oz:

Product is being used on a hospice patient. It was recommended by a nurse and aide. It works well in that it spreads easily and is thick enough or thin enough per the area to be covered and the layering done.
It is not as good for bedsores as Derma Septin from Dermarite company. That is LIQUID GOLD ON SKIN...ANY SKIN. It takes the start of bedsores away if caught in early stages before it breaks open. That a Duoderm patches helps immeasurably. This patient is bedbound and has not had any bedsore with the daily use of DermaSeptin. The Butt paste is a good addition along with another emolient product we use but we like the butt paste and it is helpful. For babies I'm sure it's a good one for diaper rash but the DermaSeptin is better. It is an over the counter product or your pharmacy can get any of these for you should you need them.
