My prior Braun shaver finally burned up after more than 15 years. It felt solid and cut very close. After that kind of success I couldn't even consider another brand. The new 760 was expensive, but the reviews were great. After several weeks of use, I can say that I like the shaver but I'm not overly impressed. It has much more plastic construction and does not feel as solidly built as the older ones which were actually built in Germany, similar to what you would expect by Braun cutting costs by outsourcing labor and trying to make up for it with cutesy features like the pivot head. I have an average beard and shave daily, but I still have to go over it several times withy this shaver to get a close cut. I have to follow it up with a quick pass of a disposable razor to eliminate missed hairs. The large head makes it difficult to get the final hairs under my nose and edges near the ear lobes. It is quiet, balanced, holds a charge very well. Nice shaver overall, but about 40% too expensive for what you get. I will be much more open minded the next time I go razor shopping. I use an electric shaver to shave daily, and have for many years. Have been using this new model now for one month, and am getting a closer shave than previous/older Braun models and other shavers. My wife strongly agrees!
I saw a few complaints from other reviewers about the new-style trimmer (flips out, at right angle); but personally I find this design works better on my sideburns, just takes a day or two of getting used to it.
So far, after one month, nothing negative to report.

My husband uses the braun shaver everyday and by the end of the day he usually could use another shave, but this one makes him look like he just shaved, even at night. He loves it!

There are only three reasons to buy an electric razor: save on blades, save time from buying blades or to avoid getting cut while shaving. Other than that blades, or manual shaving are superior--no one would argue that you can get as close as shave with an electric. The only thing they might say is "it is close to a blade."
With that said, I ordered the Braun 790. The thing has a whole lot of items to it and things you must buy to keep it going. Unlike the Braun of old when it actually was a German company which specialized in practicality and didn't try to milk customers into buying unnecessary things, Proctor & Gamble (the maker of Tide and Crest) bought them out and changed the game.
Now you need to have this nasty alcohol solution cleaner--which must be repurchased every thirty days--in order to use your shaver. In the past Braun was designed to be cleaned with water and a brush. Furthermore, you need to replace the cutting block every year and a half for about forty bucks. So any money you might have saved by not having to buy blades is eaten up by Proctor & Gamble's desire to milk as much money as it can from you!
Within a year and a half you will have spent nearly $400 to buy and maintain this razor--which will never shave as close as a blade and takes twice as long to shave as a blade. And unlike Panasonic which allows for shaving under water, Braun must be used dry which reduces lubrication and the closeness of the shave. All in all a raw deal, and therefore I am returning my Braun and realize the only thing this razor will help you get rid of is a lot of your money!
UPDATE: I returned my Braun to Proctor & Gamble, you know the makers of Ivory, Crest, Tide, etc.; unlike the 8 weeks they promise to refund your money for this product, they took 13 weeks and will only give you a Citibank Prepaid Card instead of giving you actual money back. Like most things from Citibank, the card has all sorts of rules and limitations. I would avoid anything Proctor & Gamble and their worthless 60-day guarantee!

This is a great razor. I have used electric razors most of my life as regular disposable razors have always left my skin irritated and broken out. Up until this Braun, I have always used Norelco rotary style razors and thought they were awesome...boy was I wrong. This foil style razor shaves incredibly close (just as close as I was able to get with a disposable razor, but without the irritation). It was very pricey and I'm not nuts about the expense of the cleaning solution refills (I take the solution out and put the cap back on to make it last longer and only clean a couple times a week), but it's totally worth it. Plus drugstore.com had an amazing price compared to everyone else selling this product. I think this is a great purchase despite the price because it works really well and appears to be great quality. It's worth the money to me to get a clean shave every morning and not have my neck look as though I took a cheese grater to it!

I have been using Braun shavers for over 25 years and like the solid and durable features and always raising to a higher level with new technology based on a solid foundation. I have a fairly heavy beard and unfortunately the older I am getting I see more stray hairs. Getting used to the new model was very easy. The trimmer work better then the old model but it sticks out so it is hard to see what I am doing when trimming my side burns but I think when I get used to this change it will be OK. This is a quality built and quality engineered shaver!

I really like the Braun 760. I only shave as much as every other day, since I have very sensitive skin. I used a razor prior to about 20 years old, but I kept cutting the corners of my mouth and sometimes my neck. So, razors were not an option. I owned maybe three electrics in the past. I had a Norelco rotary for about 10 years and it was OK, though it definitely was not comfortable. Then I has a Panasonic oscillating blade (like the Braun) for another 10 years and it was a little bit better with comfort, though it still irritated my skin somewhat. Then I bought a Panasonic rotary and used it twice...OMG it really irritated my skin, so I returned it and kept using my old Panasonic. So, I was less than thrilled about the possibility of getting a new electric shaver. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that this is the BEST shaver ever for guys with very sensitive skin. Even on the first shave, I felt absolutely no irritation. Maybe the vibrating head helps with irritation. But what ever Braun did, it really works for me. I actually told my wife that I don't mind shaving any more. The first few weeks, I shaved almost every day! OK, after about three months now, I am back to my old ways of shaving about every other day, though my skin is never irritated.
One small bad thing is that I had to return my first Braun shaver (after about 30 days) since the base electrical contacts did not contact the shaver contacts very well. Thus during the cleaning cycle, the power would be interupted and the cycle would never complete. But, this retailer (since I think they remove dot com addressses) took the return (with no charge to me) and I got a new one. So far, no problems with the base's electrical contacts on the new one.
Another small thing is that the trimmer is not that great. So, it is hard to get a good sideburn trim.
Overall, I pretty much love this electric shaver and it is great for guys with sensitive skin.
