I don't see (or feel) a difference in the white (gentler) and the blue (more abrasive) sides; they both feel the same to me. I can see how other people, especially those with sensitive skin would find the product irritating, too rough, or even painful to use. Personally, I wouldn't bathe without it. It will become flatter with use, and I replace it when it gets to about 3/8 inch thick (it starts at about 3/4 inch thick), but it seems to be unchanged in quality even when I replace it. I would think one could use it until it starts to fall apart (assuming that it does; I've never tried it that far). These hold up better, longer & are so gentle. Comments about Buf-Puf Gentle Facial Sponge, 1 ea: Have been using a buff puff since my teens, am now 62 years old, and have NO wrinkles. No lines, only tiny beginnings of lines. This is THE best product to stave off wrinkles, and maintain gorgeous skin. Have most of my friends using, and it gets rave reviews from them, too. Even 3 doctors of mine now use it. My dermatologist makes his staff look at my skin when I go in. Can NOT rave enough about this product. I use it on my face and body, easy to clean. Maintenance and exfoliating of one's skin is basic common sense, I don't buy expensive creams...it's all hype. If you follow the instructions on how to rinse/dry, it will last for a very long time. I'm very happy to discover that you carry this product since disappearing from the shelves years ago. I use it once a day on my face, and it leaves my face feeling smother than ever. The only con is that, for me, it's not as gentle as I hoped. My face tends to be a little red after using it, but the redness goes away fairly quickly.
