It has a nice cooling sensation when applied and it's like you can feel it hydrating your lips. I had terrible chapped lips last winter (I was in a new climate and my skin was not adapting well at all), and I was using chap stick, which was not cutting it. I found this in a 4 pack for $[$] (it came with a tin of this, a tube of this, the honey kind and another kind, but I don't remember which one) and all of them did a wonderful job at treating my painfully chapped lips. This along with Carmex, are my favorite lip products when I need something hydrating and soothing. It's very hard, which makes it long lasting & smash resistant, but not as moisturizing as softer lip balms. I recommend getting Dr. Bronner's Peppermint lip balm instead of this. Bronner's has organic ingredients, more hydration, and is about the same price as Burt's Bees. The peppermint flavor is milder, but if you have dry lips Bronner's is a more effective balm. This also makes a good eyebrow wax for unruly eyebrows. I use this all the time, and like that when it does wear off, it doesn't leave your lips feeling parched. A single pass over the lips is all it takes for hours of pleasant protection; I work as a nurse in a very dry indoor environment, enjoy being outside in the blazing sun and blowing snow, and find that this is the one lip conditioning product that is effective for all conditions. I've tried all different kinds of lip balm, and LOVE this one for the following reasons: it does not make my lips look glossy, stays put nicely without being waxy and cakey, has a pleasant smell, doesn't tint the lips so it isn't so girly-girl that my boys won't use it, and doesn't have some ingredient(s) in it like other lip balms that flares up my nose allergies. Never had the lumpy, flaky problem. I still keep other brands around for the boys to use because 1) they don't care that much and 2) they lose the sticks and I hate having to lose perfectly good BB lip balms to the "I dunnos". Once you've tried this, you'll swear off the other stuff unless you like the other brands for any of the reasons above. I don't know why I ever buy any other brand....my cousin went as far as to say that this lip balm has changed his life. Well, I don't know about all that, but I've been using it for years, and I'll never use another brand! The texture is great, super soft, pleasingly minty, and it doesn't dry out my lips like some others... Comments about Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm, 1 ea: I just want to say this is the ONLY lip balm product my entire family uses. I tried it out and have used it ever since, about 5 years now. Eventually everyone in my household got a hold of it, and I had to keep replacing my supply. Now I buy in bulk whenever possible. My lips crack and peel all year round so first thing in the morning I use Curel Original lotion to get moisture deep down, then I use Burt's Bees to seal in the moisture as well as keep the harsh winter air out. I find this prevents embarrassing and unattractive cracking. I use it in conjunction with lipstick usually on top of it (helps it last). Really good on already cracked and sore lips-you will feel the tingling as it works it's magic. Love Love LOVE it! Never be with out it. I've also used it on persistent skin rash (I have sensitive skin), and found it helps heal that too. Go figure. All natural is definitely the way to go. Comments about Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm, 1 ea: I find this lip balm to be heavy and waxy. I wear lip balm every moment of every day, and this stuff just doesn't do it for me. I feel like it coats my lips instead of moisturizing them, making them feel heavy and stiff (if that makes sense!). I do think the smell is nice, but that's about it.
