I used this product on my eight-month-old for an entire week vacation in the Caribbean. You do have to really work it in, but my baby liked the massaging so it wasn't a big deal. I didn't apply it at the beach, but before we got there, to make this process easier. If I needed to reapply, which was only a few times, I did it in the car where we also changed his diaper. After a few days of use I did notice some small bumps forming on his forearms, which has to have come from the lotion. They didn't seem to bother him, so I just made sure I washed his arms really well each night and once I stopped using the lotion (after vacation), they cleared right up. I also used the lotion on my face and had no trouble. So I do like the product, it did what it was supposed to--my son had absolutely zero sunburn that week. I think this is insanely expensive. I have seen it in stores since for a little less than what it's being sold for on Drugstore, and that bugs me. That is why I took away one star. I guess I'd buy it again, but only if I don't find something comparable and less expensive. VS Most Liked Negative Review I bought this for my 3 ... I am so disappointed with this sunscreen!! Not only is it so thick that it is difficult to wash off it gave my daughter an awful rash where it was on her face and arms. She also got pink while in the sun for less than 30 minutes. She is very fair and she also looked iridescent from the thick sticky sheen. I was so disappointed I sent California Baby an email. I have tried everything I could buy, and most sunscreens don't work for very long, or cause skin irritation. We live in Hawaii, where the sun is much more intense than most people encounter. Before I started using this sunblock, I dreaded going to the beach because of the sunburns that often happened. Now we can go and spend hours at the beach. I have to re-apply it every 45 minutes on my son, especially when he's in the water. It leaves a white film that is more noticeable on darker people, but not on him. I use it on myself and I like it, and I only have to re-apply every 2 to 3 hours on myself. I have tried similar products but they either don't work for even 25 minutes, don't stay on in the surf or they have horrible odors. I am obsessive about sunblocks - I've tried many dozens, I even have the EWG sunscreen app on my phone. Most sunblocks irritate my son's sensitive skin, but this one does not. This is the only one that works under very demanding conditions. The big con is that is expensive (but not even close to the most expensive sunblocks I've tried.) California Baby (unscented) is the only sunblock that I recommend. The other big con is the over 1 month shipping time to Hawaii from drugstore.com. So I have to plan ahead to make sure I have enough. Important note: he tends to rub his eyes and face when emerging out of a wave, and that does eventually remove the sunblock. He could probably last longer without re-applications if he didn't do that. Also, make sure that you actually cover all of the skin - a lot of people don't put enough on, but the viscosity of this sunscreen helps because if it is spread all over, it usually has sufficient thickness. We both have highly allergic and sensitive skin. I found it on ewg's Skin Deep website and like all California Baby products great ratings in low toxicity, allergy and sensitivity. Pros

Like a similar reviewer, I found that the sun protection was not adequate for my 3-year old daughter. I slathered it on prior to letting her play, and reapplied like a mad woman, chasing her down every 20 minutes or so. It is thick, and she was nearly glowing with a white sheen, but honestly, she didn't seem to care and neither did I. The problem was, that even with liberal reapplying, she still came home with a decent amount of sun after about 60-90 minutes of outside play. I love California Baby products, and I really thought this would be a no brainer, but it just doesn't protect well enough for an active toddler. Oh, and she also developed a bumpy, itchy rash after every time we used this product. So... the search continues. Pros

The only problem is that it makes my face shiny and greasy in summer. I had combination skin. So i think it may work best to dry or normal skin
