Started using this when DD started swim classes and was in the pool at least 3 times a week. Gentle enough it doesn't sting and has a nice aroma too. Wish it didn't have aloe so I could use it as well. Yes, I would recommend this to a friend and already have. One of the other mother's asked me about it. Where we live we don't have a lot of other options. Thanks for carrying this product drugstore.com

I bought this product hoping that it has natural properties to neutralize the chlorine in the pool since I swim 3-4X a week. Sometimes the chlorine makes my skin itchy. I've been using Aubrey Organics Swimmers' Shampoo and it works quite well. I bought this just to have another one so I can alternating shampoos to avoid any potential build up.
This one leathers easier than the Aubrey one, unfortunately, it left my skin with the faint smell of the pool still. I concluded that it is not that effective to neutralize the chlorine even with the lemon scent (something acidic should have neutralized the chlorine that is alkaline.).
The lemon scent that's talked about by some other reviewers smells more like any other cheap artificial lemon scent. I couldn't figure out which ingredient it comes from (maybe grapefruit seed extract but it doesn't smell like it). It is strong and not that pleasant but tolerable.
The bottom line is that it would be good for daily wash, not necessarily for after swimming. It would be an expensive product just for daily shampoo and wash though.

Comments about California Baby Swimmer's Defense Shampoo & Bodywash, 8.5 fl oz:

This product works pretty good, but your hair feels brittle afterwards. The chlorine damage is causing the brittle feeling, but I was hoping the shampoo/conditioner combo would help.
Other than that, it's a great shampoo and it takes out the chlorine smell very well. I would recommend this product.

Comments about California Baby Swimmer's Defense Shampoo & Bodywash, 8.5 fl oz:

I bought three different California Baby shampoos and conditioner. I really had high hopes as I am trying to switch to better all natural products. The products claim to be for babies and up. They even say adults can use them! Well my two year old has a head full of fine curly hair and it was very difficult to wash her hair with this product. I loved how it smelled so much I thought well let me use the conditioner and see if that help. It did not help detangle at all! I did not use it on my 7yr old because she has thick red curly hair. I didn't bother. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because my 4yr old son has a crew cut and he can use it. I am sure for babies with little hair it is a great product. I just wish it did not claim to be for old children as well.

I liked the fact that it is all natural and made for sensitive skin. but i agree with everyone on how it just dissolves in your hand quickly because its very runny- hard to really lather it because it not a gel or cream-like. i feel like i'm not getting the full benefits. but it smells very fragrant so thats a plus. not sure if this is anymore effective than anything else but it didnt make me break out or anything. not sure i would spend this much money on it again tho

I love the fresh lemon smell to wash away the chlorine smell after swimming. I also like that its a body wash and a shampoo.

Yuck! This stuff cleans just fine, but smells like Citronella candles! My 5 y.o. refuses to let me use it on him because of the smell. I gave it 3 stars for the fact that it is so safe to use on children (chemical-wise), which is why I bought it in the first place. I would not buy it again.

We like this product year round -- our town water is very chlorinated and we think it helps. The fragrance is nice, sweet, not over-powering.
