This thing has camphor which may sooth skin temporarily, but constant use would actually make it an irritant. Also, why is there Salicylic acid in this? That ingredient would make your lips worse by making it peel even more when it's already chapped and it did happen to me. That sucks! Carmex should rethink the ingredients here, perhaps put a sunscreen. Anyway, it smells good and it's cheap compared to others, so I give it 2 stars. Comments about Carmex Cold Sore Reliever and Lip Moisturizer, Jar, .5 oz: I really like Carmex, I love menthol and so I love the flavor/scent and I find it really effective as a lip balm, also for under stuffed nostrils, however, I am weary of the fact that it contains Fragrance ("Fragrance" being a trade secret blend of anything/everything doesn't have to have it's ingredients revealed) because Fragrance generally isn't good for your skin, let alone for a product you ingest in small quantities. Other than the Fragrance (which I can't imagine is really necessary because of the menthol and camphor) Carmex is great! Pros

I have one by the bed, one by the computer, one by my chair in the living room, and one in my handbag when I go out. If I find I don't have one when I'm out, I panic and look for a drugstore! I use it at least every half hour every day. I had being so dependent o anything, but if I don't use it, my dry lips drive me crazy. Pros

It smells like an ointment, which probably explains the super duper power to cure my VERY VERY VERY chapped lips. I recently moved to a fairly dry area near the mountains so the climate/environment change has taken it's toll on my lips. I use lip balms during the day but at night this is my HG!!!! (holy grail) LOVE IT! Just try it, you won't regret it! Pros
