I've used this product for many years, but they do not last forever! The one that I am replacing did last for a little over two years - that is a record - it is necessary to run it with a little vinegar once a month as instructed, and I think if you do that, it will last at least a couple of years.

I have wavy hair and this curler works like none other I've tried. It can give you tight spiral curls or loose waves, depending on the rollers you use and how tightly you wrap your hair. Its getting increasingly difficult to find Caruso hair systems, I'm so happy to have found it here because my one complaint is they die pretty quickly, I have to replace mine every year and a half or so because it just stops working, so if you intend to use it 5 days a week like I do be prepared it won't last that long.

My hair is wavy, and will do anything I want for 20 minutes...then it reverts to something unattractive. Steam setting with this gave my hair lift (wavy hair lies flat) and has retained a curl for three days. Wish it required less coordination...but I am sure I will develop "skill" in time. It's also small and easy to store/pack.

I have long very thick hair and it holds the set 3 days, it does loosen as the days go by, I usually touch up around my face with a curling iron on days 2 and 3. I've been using these rollers about 12 years, in my estimation they are the best out there. They don't dry or damage you hair if anything they make it healthier. I remember in the beginning I just about gave up with them but I stuck with it. You leave the roller on the steam unit for just a few seconds so it is hot but not wet. You have to roll them fast so they don't loose the heat, this skill comes with practice. I can set my whole head in 5 minutes, then I put my make up on and take the curlers out. You don't have to wait until they cool, because if you do it will be too curly.
They are bulky to travel with and I go through 2 steam units a year, but our water is incredibly hard I think that is the problem with that. I get my hair cut and colored every 5 weeks and I always take my curlers with me and do my own set because it looks better, more natural and I'm way quicker then my hair stylist.
She brags about me to the other customers because I can set my hair way faster then any stylist there. These are great but there is a learning curve, you have to be patient with yourself and stick with it. I promise you'll be thrilled with the results one you catch on to it.

I really like this product, especially the travel size that does not require salt. This is my third unit, only because I have one for work and one for home. The home unit finally died but only after a few years of use. I agree, you need to dump out the water and dry out the unit to keep it running properly. Also, cleaning it with vinegar helps. And, using disitilled water helps, too. If you have a dehumidifier in your home, you can use that water for your Caruso hair setter and your iron.
As mentioned previously, however, the original sponge rollers were the best. Now, these cell foam rollers don't work as well, but even these rollers give me a curl like nothing else could. I, too, agree Caruso should just sell the unit without rollers. I'll never not have one of these products. My hair looks its best when I use my Caruso.

I agree that the units die way too quickly. But, I'm getting ready to order yet another one because I love the way it does my hair.
And ditto on all those rollers - they need to offer a unit only option for sale.

Wish they would just sell the steamer and not the curlers. The steamer doesn't last as long as the old type that has salt added to the water. When they changed the steamer doesn't last as long. I still love it, because it curls my hair and it last all day and it's fast.
