Are generic drugs safe?

Generic equivalents of brand name medications are approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). In almost all cases, generics work as well as their brand-name siblings, and often cost considerably less.

Most states allow pharmacists to substitute a generic when appropriate and when you and your doctor authorize it. Our pharmacy is located in New Jersey, so we substitute generic drugs recognized as interchangeable under New Jersey law.

drugstore.com pharmacy does not import drugs from foreign countries. Our drugs are genuine pharmaceutical products purchased from reputable US suppliers and adhere to the strict requirements of the Food & Drug Administration (FDA).

If you have questions regarding generic medications, please contact our pharmacy at aboutrx@drugstore.com or call 1-800-drugstore (1-800-378-4786).
