This is a gentle, fairly effective facial cleanser. Works well with dry or sensitive skin. It doesn't remove all make-up, but few cleansers do. I really appreciate the lack of fragrance.

I am 62 and have used many cleansers from expensive to inexpensive. I read about this product in More magazine about 2 years ago and have been a faithful user ever since. I have dry skin and I use this at least twice a day and my skin never feels dry after using. When I travel it is easy to transfer to a smaller container. It is easy to find at most drugstores and is always the same price. I am not usually faithful to many products but I will continue to use this product!

I am over 50 and the dry to normal cleanser is the best for the price I've found.

I thought this would be good for my sensitive skin as it was recommended by my dermatologist. I felt a burning sensation immediately and my skin is still irritated and red the next day. What a waste, but I do like the lotion.

I love CeraVe! I use it daily and it works great! I can have acne prone skin and this is what my doctor recommended I use. My skin has improved since then, but I still continue to use CeraVe as my daily cleanser. Love it!

My dermatologist recommended this to me because my skin was flaking, breaking out and generally just looking tired and splotchy as I approached my late 20s. It immediately helped calm the breakouts that other "Acne treatment" type of washes and cleansers had been giving me.

This cleanser also doesn't have any perfume that stays on the skin, which is great, because it irritates my eyes and doesn't leave my skin free of chemicals.

The only caveat is that it doesn't remove make-up. I wear make-up once a week, and with this cleanser, it takes about 8-10 minutes of cleansing and foaming with this to try and get any make-up off. I have to combine it with other products.

If you are hesitating because this product is more expensive than other brands like Noxema or L'Oreal, you really get what you pay for. And for about $3-4 more, you really can afford to have clear skin that isn't irritated, right?

I am truly thrilled with this wash but believe as I've gotten older skincare is an evolving thing. This does what it's supposed to do and does it well, but won't work for every skin type or issue. I have tried absolutely everything (as much of the other reviewers have). I have combo skin that is dryer in winter, very oily in summer, and is acne prone + large pores. I realized as my skin changed with age and was also starting to incorporate things like AHA/BHA and Retinol into my skincare regimen, that the old harsh acne scrub was not what I needed to use and left my face very dry. I was also using mineral makeup which was exacerbating the problem..and thus an oil slick. At my last derm apt at the end of summer she suggested Purpose for me. Fall/winter weather rolled around, the introduction of artificial heat, plus the anti-aging products and my face was still way too dry. I picked this up even though I have oily skin and large pores and within days it make a difference in my skin, helped calm it down, leaves is hydrated, and protects my skin barrier against the other products I'm using. I leave it on for about a minute before rinsing to help some of the hydrating properties get in there instead of being washed down the drain. I still do get some clogged pores on my nose, and it doesn't remove makeup the best, but you have to treat combo skin that way or target the areas with what you need. Once summer and more oil rolls around this may not be the best choice for me, but up to this point it's FANTASTIC!
