After I destroyed by skin with all the harsh acne products I wanted something gentle and calming. I picked up cetaphil and after a week of using it day and night I was amazed. My skin has cleared up and I no longer have dry patches or an oily Tzone. I believe most people develop bad acne after using so much stuff on their skin. Good thing it regenerates.

It has been a month and my skin tone looks natural and not damaged.I still have the occasional small pimple but nothing noticable or cystic. So if your face is screaming for rescue try cetaphil GENTLE skin cleanser. The other cetaphil is a bit strong for dry or sensative skin but I use it when my skin gets hormonal and oily. Either way this is a great product and drinking enough water helps too.

I had been using Purity Made Simple by Philosophy, and liked it, but wanted something more reasonably priced. I needed a cleanser that would be gentle, remove makeup and not dry out my skin. I use Differin prescription product on my skin, and since Cetaphil is made by the same manufacturer, and I had heard good things about how gentle it is, I thought I'd give it a try. I was deeply disappointed.

Cetaphil dried out my skin horribly, leaving it absolutely parched and dreadfully tight after rinsing it off. It stung my skin when I washed with it, smelled unpleasant and caused my skin to flake and peel the following day. The worst part was the hyper-oiliness that resulted from using it. My skin reacted to being dried out so badly by the Cetaphil by cranking oil production into high gear. By mid-afternoon I had a disgusting, nasty, visible oil slick alll over my face, and I have never had that problem before. The increased oil production caused acne, which had completely disappeared since I'd been using Differin. I couldn't use moisturizer because even though I desperately needed it after the Cetaphil dried out my skin, it added to the puddle of oil on my face that appeared in the afternoon.

I have stopped using Cetaphil, and have gone back to Purity Made Simple by Philosophy. I'll never sacrifice quality for price again.

I can't say anything good about this product. It was disasterous for my skin, and I'm really surprised by this. I do not recommend it to anyone.

Comments about Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser, 16 fl oz:

When My former cleanser was discontinued I was not optimistic that I would find a comparable replacement. I read lots of reviews and settled on Cetaphil. After a month, I am hooked. Super gentle and it cleanses so effectively. And you can't beat the price. I'm glad my former cleanser is no longer available. The only thing I miss is the subtle clean fragrance but no fragrance isn't a bad trade-off, considering the other gains.

Comments about Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser, 16 fl oz:

This stuff is amazing. I had mono about a year ago and since then I have had problems with my skin. I had tried many different cleansers and cleansing oils to try and get rid of it. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser is not only giving me clearer skin than I've seen in a long time, but doing so when I tend to break out the most. It also takes the guess work out of what kind of skin you have because its for all skin types. I highly recommend this.

I hate to waste money. But this cleanser is so much better for sensitive skin than soap that I pay the price. Fortunately it's readily available and I can often find discounts.

40 years ago, my son was born with eczema and could not be bathed with water. His dermatologist recommended Cetaphyl. It worked wonders. The doctor also recommended it to cleanse my face because of my sensitive skin. It's been my friend for 40 years! My skin is 63years old but looks much younger, it's smooth, clean, soft and wonderful. Don't waste your money on stuff that does NOT work!!

I tried Cetaphil, because "hey, what the heck the reviews are wonderful and I have enlarged pores around my nose and I wish my face would just be clear and beautiful?" but instead I got a face with pimples. Zits. I have never gotten zits before. It's very embarrassing that I now have pimples on my cheeks. My cheeks were always the clearest part of my face, but after using Cetaphil my acne has spread to places where it never was before. I never write reviews, but I had to do something that took my hands off of my face, I cannot stand what this has done to it. Sure, at first it felt wonderful and it looked like it was working for the first two days. But then after a week I'm left with a face that I don't want to look at in the mirror. I have never ever had acne this bad.

I've had cystic acne since I was 13(23 now) and I have tried every product imaginable for my skin. I've tried microdermabrasion, acid peels, various acne kits to no avail nothing has ever worked consistently. I started using this was a week ago and it pulled all of my deep cysts to the top of my skin and they're healing now. My face is usually red and now the tone is evening itself out. I cannot say enough wonderful things.

Cetaphil cleanser comes in regular and gentle formulas. The gentle is fragrance free.

They have "Gentle Skin Cleanser" (original formula) and "Daily Facial Cleanser" (smells funny).

Several years ago I had a bad case of eczema on my face and hands. There was hardly any product I could use without irratating them. When I tried the Cetaphil, it actually felt GOOD on my skin. What a relief. I've been using it ever since.

I have sensitive skin and a really oily forehead and this didn't help at all. It also doesn't remove makeup and made my skin feel tight. Gave it 2 stars because it worked for 3-4 days on my forehead but then made it worse and left bumps. Bottom line is it's too gentle. Didn't work on whiteheads on chin either.

For years, I have been plagued by chronic, painful, bleeding splits in the skin of my fingertips. As expected, the problem is worse during the cold, winter months but it never really goes away. I have tried every imaginable cream and lotion. I have slept, worked and relaxed in gloves over hands slathered with moisturizers. Nothing really made much difference until last winter when I decided that perhaps I should try a gentler type of soap. A bottle of Cetaphil now sits beside every sink in my home. I still have an occasional crack or split emerge on my fingertips but the frequency has been dramatically reduced since switching to Cetaphil for washing my hands throughout the day. Interestingly, my husband and sons, always leery of change, have also come to prefer Cetaphil to our old brand of soap. Skin is a complicated thing and everybody's is a bit different. For me, the gentle cleaning that Cetaphil provides has made a huge difference in my comfort.

                        Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

                         – Keeping your skin clean is one of the fundamental steps toward maintaining a clear complexion and a soft, smooth feel to face and body alike. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser is a very popular option for those with the sort of sensitive skin that can react adversely to harsh cleansers--or anyone who values dependable skincare products made from high-quality ingredients.

                        Great for Everyday Use

The Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser is designed for use on all skin types--from normal and well-balanced to dry and easily aggravated. Non-comedogenic and fragrance-free, the cleanser is mild but effective. It cleanses away grime and other impurities and moisturizes your skin while preserving its naturally protective and healthful oils. The cleanser washes away cleanly without leaving behind pore-clogging residue. The end result is exceptionally smooth, remarkably soft-to-the-touch skin.

Mild enough to be used each and every day as part of your normal skincare routine, Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser works well not only on the face but also the hands and the rest of the body.

                        An Influential Brand

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser and the other offerings from the Cetaphil brand spring from one of the world's leading skincare companies, Galderma, which was founded in 1981 in a partnership between Nestlé and L'Oréal. Based in Fort Worth, Texas, Galderma distributes skin care products across 70 countries while collaborating with such institutions as the American Academy of Dermatology, the Dermatology Foundation, and the American Skin Association in its efforts to promote dermatological research. The company runs five research and development centers around the world: in the U.S., Japan, France, Sweden, and Switzerland. The French lab, according to Galderma, is the world's biggest dermatology research center.

Along with the general cleansers and moisturizers available in the Cetaphil brand, Galderma also addresses symptoms of specific conditions such as acne and rosacea with a variety of formulations.
