I use retin-a on my face with the Obagi blender and Obagi Clear cream. Sometimes the Obagi acne serum as well. La Roche-Posay Anthelios sunscreen. I need a moisturizer which JUST MOISTURIZES. I do not want any retinol, glycolic acids, anti-wrinkle ingredients, sunscreens, brightening agents or anything else. Just TRY and find one at the drugstore, it's impossible! What I use on my face is extremely powerful and I don't want to add anything on top of it. My skin is completely porcelain smooth, BUT it requires a LOT of maintenance, I actually break out really easily if I don't take care of it. I don't have sensitive skin, but I will break out with the wrong kind of lotion, usually after two or three days. I have been looking for just the perfect moisturizer for literally years! For a long long time I used the Mary Kay timewise moisturizer for dry skin, but it was never moisturizing enough, especially at night. I was at my boyfriend's house and when i got out of the shower there was a bottle of cetaphil there. I had a vague idea that it was a gentle facial moisturizer, so I put some on and absolutely loved it. The next day I went to use it again but then noticed that it said "perfect for use as an all-over body lotion." I was like, well, I better not use it on my face, and I used it all over my body instead and loved that. It feels very very similar to the Origins Precipitation - at a fraction of the cost. (I will admit Precipitation smells SO good it's worth the price to me.) I checked online and read a bunch of reviews and realized it IS used for the face. I LOVE IT! It is so moisturizing that I don't even need a separate eye cream. My nose tends to get quite oily, and this does not exacerbate it at all. During the day I mix just a dab with my sunscreen. I wear mineral makeup and it does not ball up the way it can over other creams with lots of moisture. If it doesn't break me out it will not break you out! It's so moisturizing, but doesn't make your face stick to your pillow and hair. It feels so good and I enjoy putting it on. Buy this!

My wound care doctor, and several nurses from my Home Health care agency, recommended Cetaphil for me over a year ago, to treat the stasis-dermatitis associated with my venous-stasis condition in my legs. My favorite nurse who stayed with me for 18 months, bought me a bottle, so I would try something different from my usual brands. I typically used lotions with lots water, parabens, and cetyl alcohols, from lack of knowledge, and my condition requires deep safe moisturizing, because I can develop deep ulcers if I don't do so often, and daily.

This lotion smelled horrible, like rotting protein. Another thing I noticed, was even though my skin felt greasy and heavy, it still felt itchy and dry underneath. Because the water content is so negligible, this lotion seals the skin, but doesn't trap enough water under the greasy barrier to relieve any dry itchy feeling. Some lotions are all water, and when the water dries (because of cetyl alcohols and other alcohols), you feel dry and itchy several minutes later. Cetaphil takes hours to absorb, and your skin maintains that lubricated sensation, but it just lacks because I want some water to cool and refresh that dry itchy sensation under the grease.

What I started doing was putting my water intensive lotion on first, and then before it has time to completely evaporate, put the Cetaphil over it, and the result was a reminder of the old adage, "water and oil don't mix." I still apply my water-intensive lotion, and make sure it is well absorbed, before applying a thin layer of Cetaphil to prevent rapid evaporation, and it is somewhat effective when used that way. Who has the time for a double application? While Cetaphil has been more medically recommended to me, my bottle has lasted me over 18 months, because I avoid using it unless I have really dry patches which need an extra layer of protection. A nurse this past summer told me that the Cetaphil in the tub provides better results than the Cetaphil in the pump, I haven't decided if I will buy it myself or not. A little bit really goes a long way.

A very good moisturizer with truly safe gradients. I am feeling very comfortable to use it after any serum. plus, I simply add some aromatherapy oil and make it any kinds of smell I like. A perfect product I would like to recommend to any of my friends.

Comments about Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion, Fragrance Free, 16 fl oz:

I spent much time and many tries on other lotions needed for my dry skin that wouldn't irritate my skin or clog my pores and found this one that I have used now for almost 10 years. It's gentle enough I can use on my face when I don't have my facial lotion with me but heavy enough to keep my legs from being scaley.

I've tried many moisterizers from all levels of the market and this excels at what you want it to do: provide long lasting moisture quickly and in the harshest of conditions. (mine being winter in the midwest!)

Bought this on the recommendation of our pediatrician to use on our baby's rashes, but I wish I had looked at the list of ingredients - nothing sounds natural, and after looking up some of the ingredients (Benzyl Alcohol) I questioning even my selection of pediatrician. We didn't even find it all that helpful.
