Chemical Name: CETIRIZINE (se-TI-ra-zeen)
Cetirizine Hcl 100 5mg Tablets is an antihistamine used to treat both seasonal and perennial allergy symptoms such as watery eyes, runny nose (rhinitis), itching eyes, and sneezing. Cetirizine is also used to treat hives.
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with Cetirizine Hcl 100 5mg Tablets. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking theophylline. DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions including liver or kidney problems, dialysis, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. Follow the directions for using Cetirizine Hcl 100 5mg Tablets provided by your doctor. CETIRIZINE HCL 100 5mg TABLETS is usually taken by mouth once daily. CETIRIZINE HCL 100 5mg TABLETS MAY BE TAKEN on an empty stomach or with food. STORE CETIRIZINE HCL 100 5mg TABLETS at room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 to 25 degrees C) in a tightly-closed container, away from heat, moisture, and light. BRIEF STORAGE between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) is acceptable. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF CETIRIZINE HCL 100 5mg TABLETS, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
DO NOT TAKE CETIRIZINE HCL 100 5mg TABLETS if you have had an allergic reaction to it, to any ingredient in this product, or to hydroxyzine. KEEP ALL DOCTOR AND LABORATORY APPOINTMENTS while you are taking Cetirizine Hcl 100 5mg Tablets. CETIRIZINE HCL 100 5mg TABLETS MAY AFFECT CERTAIN LAB TEST RESULTS, including skin allergy tests. Make sure laboratory personnel and your doctors know you use Cetirizine Hcl 100 5mg Tablets. LIMIT ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES while taking Cetirizine Hcl 100 5mg Tablets. CETIRIZINE HCL 100 5mg TABLETS WILL ADD TO THE EFFECTS of alcohol and other depressants (such as sleep aids, tranquilizers, or muscle relaxers). Ask your pharmacist if you have questions about which medicines are depressants. DO NOT INCREASE YOUR DOSE or take more of Cetirizine Hcl 100 5mg Tablets than prescribed without checking with your doctor. CETIRIZINE HCL 100 5mg TABLETS MAY CAUSE DROWSINESS. DO NOT DRIVE, OPERATE MACHINERY, OR DO ANYTHING ELSE THAT COULD BE DANGEROUS until you know how you react to Cetirizine Hcl 100 5mg Tablets. Using Cetirizine Hcl 100 5mg Tablets alone, with other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or to perform other potentially dangerous tasks. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. This includes any medicines containing cough and cold products. CAUTION IS ADVISED WHEN USING CETIRIZINE HCL 100 5mg TABLETS IN THE ELDERLY because they may be more sensitive to the effects of Cetirizine Hcl 100 5mg Tablets, especially the drowsiness effect. CAUTION IS ADVISED WHEN USING CETIRIZINE HCL 100 5mg TABLETS IN CHILDREN because they may be more sensitive to the effects of the medicine, especially stomach pain and trouble sleeping. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and the risks of using Cetirizine Hcl 100 5mg Tablets during pregnancy. CETIRIZINE HCL 100 5mg TABLETS IS EXCRETED in breast milk. DO NOT BREAST-FEED while taking Cetirizine Hcl 100 5mg Tablets.
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while taking Cetirizine Hcl 100 5mg Tablets include drowsiness, dry mouth, stomach pain, tiredness, or trouble sleeping. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience nose bleed, sore throat, loss of appetite, or urinary retention. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience chest pain, fast or irregular heartbeat, seizures, severe dizziness, mental or mood changes, unusual hoarseness, yellowing of eyes or skin, dark urine, or persistent fatigue. AN ALLERGIC REACTION to Cetirizine Hcl 100 5mg Tablets is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, or trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. IF USING CETIRIZINE HCL 100 5mg TABLETS FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, obtain refills before your supply runs out.
