It straightens my thick naturally wavy hair better and in less than half the time than other cheaper brand flat irons did. It is expensive, but if it lasts long it will definitely be worth it, since it takes much less time to straighten my hair now. It gets noticeably hotter than the cheaper irons out there, which is probably why it works so much better. It doesn't have an adjustable control for temperature if that is an important feature for you. I've never used it in the past, because most irons never got hot enough to do a decent job. However, I realize that was only because it was a big step up for me from my previous straightener (a Conair). The truth is, there are much better straighteners out there for around the same price or less. This one only has one heat setting, which is such a pain to work with. It's also really flimsy as the plates slide left and right rather than staying firmly in place. Plus, my hair is usually very staticky after using this straightener. And it just broke, about 6 months ago- so it lasted 6 years! I used to straighten my hair everyday or so when I was 18 as I got older I generally only straightened it on weekends or when I was going out. But 6 YEARS!? I've NEVER had a straightener last that long!! My roommate in college loved my old one so much she bought the newer version of it and loves it!! She's had it already for 2 years- no problems! WELL worth the money. Think of it like this, you spend 100 or so, and it lasts 6 years so realistically your only paying 15 or so PER YEAR! Seems like an AWESOME deal to me!!! When my old one broke I bought this one. It heats up super fast, and straightens perfectly! Pros

(It should be noted that for someone with long, curly hair, it should take that long to do flatironing--otherwise, you're not going to come out with perfectly straight hair.) This is the same exact flatiron which my main hairdresser uses--and he's an elite-level, boutique-salon hairdresser, who charges $60.00 per haircut. My point is, if this is being used by the best hairstylists in the nation, then it will give you a guarantee of perfectly paper-straight hair, as long as you take care of it and know how to do flatironing. This flatiron heats up to almost 500 degrees, and is the perfect width to create really intensive heat, which is necessary to create perfectly straight hair. I bought this in 2005, and am quite sure it will last me at least 2 more decades. If you're going to buy a flatiron, and you have curly hair, get this one. Pros

It make my hair shiny and smooth and gives it body as well. The only problem is that it gets really really hot so I don't use it very often to try and avoid damaging my hair. However it is great to have for straightening. It heats up fast and works well. Pros

I really wanted a chin-length bob, but knew from previous experience that my hair would poof out and resemble the Liberty Bell. I have tried many products to help tame my hair, including other flat irons and ceramic curling irons, but after two minutes outside, the effect would be lost and I would spend half of the day patting down my hair. After living in Georgia, where the temperatures are around 95 and the humidity 100% for half of the year, I broke down and bought a Chi. This is the best product ever, and I am able to wear my hair in a bob now. You would not be able to tell that I have naturally very thick, frizzy hair (think Hermione Granger but worse), and, best of all, I do not have to futz with my hair after I've smoothed it out for a couple of minutes in the morning. My hair both looks and feels healthy, and I do not need to use expensive products to maintain it. Pros
