I used this curling iron between 3-4 times a week for less than 2 months. It worked fine until the clamp starting getting loose and wouldn't hold my hair against the rod. Since it's been more than 30 days (purchased 1/28/12) Drugstore.com can't take it back. I'm not sure I will have any luck with Chi, but I do know I won't be investing any more of my money on their products. Next time, I will go to [@] and pay [$] for one that will last longer than this more expensive one.

This review is actually for the 1-1/2" iron which does not appear to be available anymore on the site. Same iron, bigger barrel.

Ordered on Jan 22nd - it's less than 8 weeks later and the ceramic coating has flaked off under the clip on both the underside of the clip and on the barrel. There is also some small bubbling of the coating other places on the underside of the clip. I have been a CHI user for many years and have never had a problem with them before, but this item is clearly defective. This iron did a great job with my thick, wavy hair in the least amount of time - loved it! But since the coating has flaked off in the spots, I have noticed a smell in my hair - this iron will heat up to 200C (which is a huge part of the reason that it works so well) and I can only assume it is starting to burn my hair without the protective coating. Drugstore.com will not exchange or accept the return of this item because it has been longer than 30 days - BARELY. I will continue to purchase and use CHI products - they are usually the best out there. BUT NEVER AGAIN FROM DRUGSTORE.COM. Beware - if there is ever a need for returns/exchanges - drugstore.com does NOT stand behind it's products.

I love that it heats up quickly and the curls come out perfect. I only wish that when I was done I had a sleeve or a case to put it in so it can cool off and protect the ceramic.

This iron was not super easy to use. I have very thick hair and had a hard time getting the iron to grasp it in order to actually curl it. Further the spring broke after only 5 months of use. CHI makes great flat irons, but curling irons and hair dryers could use some attention. The hair dryers stop blowing warm/hot air in no time and the curling iron just isn't good quality. Buy another brand.

I have naturally curly hair and in humid weather it has a tendency to frizz. This product takes care of curling my hair in a matter of minutes. It is a quick fix on difficult days.

people who can get by using a $30 verson must not have that bad hair to begin withi simply cannot use a cheap iron - i have tried this one is worth the money!

I have always strugled with my dull crazy hair - ihave used every product known to man - you simply can NOT use a cheap curling iron or straigt iron on dull frizzy hair -

this takes crackly fried hair to glossy bounces with one pass through and a curl hold - which just adds body to my hair no curl!

My only complaint is that it doesnt grip as strong as i would like - another brand i used grabed the hair much better (this one lets hair slip out_ but the results are so worth it

my cheap irons snag and pull out hair and never get it as smooth and shiny as this - with just ONE pass through LOVE it

I have naturally curly hair but instead of the tighter curls that I have and usually just through back into a pony tail; I wanted to try the softer, bigger curl look. This product worked great for me. I don't get to style it like this as often as I would like, because I am always in a rush, but when I do have just a little extra time, I style my hair this way and I love it!
